Cool blog…and interesting he is from Port Angeles…don’t go to Victoria for the day…lived there for nearly a decade and love it but it is just another city . Sail to Salt Spring Island and chill in Ganges. I once sailed in 30 foot sailboat from Victoria to Vancouver and back and often docked in Ganges for the night. Great bookstore and artisanal products.

The politics of the place are quite interesting —to the left of Mao-----place is a combination of aging Vietnam draft dodgers, green activists and millionaire/billionaire tech or famous persons.
Not from Port Angeles. My parents moved there from Seattle a few years ago. I grew up in Seattle and Bay City, Oregon.
I’ve been to Victoria exactly once. Didn’t love it, but the museum there is something to do. I’m bringing my wife, and she hasn’t been, so yeah, something to do.
You might enjoy a Russ Meyer movie called Vixen! from the 60s. It’s the first X rated movie ever made, and it’s set in B.C. even if it was filmed in California. It’s a far cry from genuine porn and both the acting and dialogue are hilarious. Your “draft dodgers” comment reminded me of Vixen!
