I appreciate your posting those nice (and sometimes breathtaking videos).
Taiwan will have what Taiwanese people want.

I always thought Korea was some open society or something. So I guess both Koreas are restrictive in terms of law and culture⌠just one of them is friendly with the US.
You canât be serious
Koreans are quite tribalistic.
Actually i find taiwanese are not willing to push for what they want. They complain about their environment but when push comes to shove, the scooter ride to 7-11 wins out every time.
Speaks to just how badly they want it, doesnât it?
Peculiar thing about Taiwan. Theyâre OK with people being gay, as long as itâs not their own kid.
They will only control their own family. They are not interested in being busybodies.
Also speaks to ânobody is going to stop you and there are no consequences for yourself, then why not?â
Hell ya, I wanna ride my scooter, I ride my scooter.
We need a Taiwan vs. South Korea technological supremacy thread. Semiconductors, cars, displays, biotech, laptops.
I lived and worked in South Korea for 7 years, and Taiwan for 3 years.
I see a similarity between the two, the differences are:
Thanks for posting that, I love it. Accuracy is a bit off.
Thats one way of putting it.
From what I observed at work, Korean workplaces are quite hardcore and stressful and very seniority based.
They also put too much focus on education from top unis such as Seoul Uni.
Taiwan seems a more laid back working environment by far even if still overly deferential to senior managers.
Korea is a more âmachoâ culture , worse than Taiwan which is also a bit macho, although no worse than Japan. I used to visit all of them for work regularly.
In Korea women are still expected to act as hosts for after work party, getting everybody drinks doing the shots etc. They look like they may enjoy it too but who knowsâŚThe commute in Seoul can be much worse than Taipei Iâve heard.
Koreans are into drinking at bars more than Taiwan . Which I like.
In Korea the stresses on people are probably a bit more magnified than Taiwan because it is quite dog eat dog and little social support for older people who lost their job.
Overall though the society is really quite similar to Taiwan ! Far more similar than to Japan. Koreans are also very concernbed about Face whereas in Japan itâs already kind of living in a post industrial society and I met coworkers in Japan who had wellâŚOdd hobbies and personalities âŚand nobody really cared that much . Japanese seem to have realised that itâs not all about money (even if they work very long hours ) whereas Koreans and Taiwanese generally are still mostly about making the big bucks.
Reason is because Korea hates Japan, full stop. They see Japan as enemies. I bet if you cruise around in Korea with Japanese cars it will likely get keyed or vandalized in some way.
As for Korea being dog eat dog, they eat dogs!!
Do they still, or is it mostly old people who do?
I know they donât care about Taiwan.
Taiwanese people love Japan, seek to emulate them, etc., and older people actually speak japanese. I think itâs because Japan built up infrastructure for Taiwan while they are here.
But I just know Korea doesnât like Japan, and neither does China.
That bus fitout really resembles a Taipei bus. He pulled up pretty fast too.
