Taiwanese food sucks!

I have actually, but I didn’t encounter any of that nasty free range chicken.

The mala flavours do help, no doubt.

Guy

That they do.

Neither did I

Not with the texture or bones. But anyways I only remember good meals in Sichuan

I’ve had free-range chicken multiple times in Sichuan. At one memorable meal at a rustic farmhouse-type restaurant, I had to pick our chicken from the flock. During the rest of that glorious meal, the remaining chickens clucked about the yard oblivious to the fate of their decapitated comrade. The head came in the soup. And yes there were bones and a lean texture.

You haven’t experienced Sichuan if you haven’t had the full splayed barbequed rabbit. Or the local delicacy of rabbit head marinated in chilis and flower pepper.

I raise you donkey penis.

I have to bring these up again.

I tried another Taiwanese wafer brand which was actually pretty good (can’t remember what it was called but it was strawberry flavour). It had the right texture, sweetness and weight to it.

My gfs sister insists on this inferior imei wafter because 'its not sweet '.

I don’t get it. I do not understand how these wafers are doing business. I bet they are not being exported. Nobody else besides Taiwanese are going to eat such an inferior product. It would be like selling a snickers but taking out the caramel, making the chocolate waxy and cheap and making the nougat hard and pasty… oh wait Taiwan has that too.

I grew up in Canada where similar wafer “food” was extremely common. Probably at least half my classmates and some form of it as their “treat” in their lunch boxes. Let’s just say, it’s a wal mart level food and leave it at that :grimacing:

It’s not any better in Malaysia, Thailand, USA etc where these snacks are also quite common. It’s obviously about the texture cause the flavor is…yikes!

For Imei products, I can recommend these puppies as an alternative. Nice crunch and density while also fulfulling the “It’s-not-sweet” prerequisite.

Guy

I was not fond of the Imei sesame oil. Possible it went rancid on the shelf. Bought a Japanese brand Kuki that’s really good.

For cheapo wafers I like the Chofers candybars. Only 12nt and there is one that’s coffee flavored.

I won’t judge somebody for buying a budget brand. These are seen as quality though, which my gfs sister and many taiwanese much prefer to a decent brand such as those loacker(toooooo sweeeeeeet) ones for example.

It aint right!

@afterspivak they are alright, i dont hate them. Imeis milk tea is pretty great, i like their mi jiang too. Cool bottles

Just the font on the packet alone is in poor taste.

The company is based in Taoyuan; please cut them some slack.

Guy

I think it’s more people judge imei company here as having less scandals, Moreno than thinking it’s actual high quality. It’s hard to admit, but I betcha that’s their meaning. Ask her when intoxicated hehe. The truth shall be known !
