Taiwanese food sucks!

Much harder to use on a phone. It’s a real time suck fucking around with getting the right arrows worked up, it disappearing and going to another pink etc etc. Pain in the ass. I can find proper cottage cheese easier than I can quote now. At least I can still make stupid smiley faces easily on the bar, cause that’s what’s important!

Where!?

I used to get them at Ranch 99 all the time.

Show me the quote button back, I’ll show you the cheddah…

Nah, that’s BS!

The proper quote button is back. And we are still left without the proper cheddah

That’s ok, I know when you say there is good food somewhere you won’t back it up with an actual location.

Unlike the quote button, it exists. Now it’s back. So, here you go :yum:

Also good quark at a restaraunt in taitung, chubby rabbit. Quark, cottage cheese. Same same :kissing_heart: not sure if they do mail order or have a shop?

Probably belongs in the taiwanese food is great thread, because those 2 are really delicious. But the quote button is back, a promise made is a promise delivered haha.

This reminds me. Where can I buy sour cream?

Waishen noodles…got to be good right ?
Says they made them themselves.

This comes out, cooked by a Vietnamese lady.

FFS.

Are they the same old ubiquitous soft yellow noodles in literally every 小吃店 in Taiwan?

“Hand made” has certainly been bastardized to the point of being irrelevant. Not sure what the servers nationality has to do with anything. Maybe the typical vietnamese stank face lol? But, either way, good for them for supporting us fellow immigrants!

The noodles look…normal. no one goes for noddles expecting good food, by definition they are filler :hugs: that’s just a 40-90nt gut filler, nothing less nothing more. Like French fries is how I put this type of lousy food. Or pasta, for the fancy Italian crowds hahaha

I’ve had good noodles in other countries…

I’ve had comparable noodles in other countries. Not good. But tasty, sure. They are still just starch fillers in my view. If I want to be bloated and without nutrition, there are decent enough tasty ones in Taiwan. Hard to beat thev24 hour nature of noodle/pasta shops selling fresh noodles 7 days a week (for home cooking). But…it’s sill just filler. If I want to be full on wheat powder, I prefer pizza personally. At least has some protein and not so much water :hugs:

There are good ones and bad ones. Taiwans 炒麵 is kind of bad.

I like beef noodles, dry beef noodles, liang mian and sometimes I’ll get a zha jiang mian.

I remember Inita doing good " noodles". Like most places, people go for other stuff not the filler. It’s weird to compliment the rice on a meal. People going to cheap noodle places know what they are buying ahead of time, just a preference on chemicals added usually. In actual noodle freshness and quality, taiwna has shops in every city working 24 hour have many different types. More. A preferene thing.

Some shops are shit, totally. Some are good. I pray I never start going to places for their rice or noodles though haha. In any country.

I used to go to a pad thai place, recommended by a local friend, that only made pad thai. Lots of tofu and egg and veggies. Not fresh noodles, from dry, but delicious and nutritious

Au contraire.
I look for good noodles. Some bite to them.

And in this case it clearly said in Chinese ‘self made’ .

They ain’t self made. Not even close. They ain’t any kind of waishen style noodles either. They ain’t waishen ren either.

They may as well have written shit factory noodles sold here.

Whilst i have totally different taste in foods as you and TT, I am totally with you on the hand made, self made whatever whatever bullshit marketing that goes on all too often. To be blunt, Taiwan has very crazy defamation laws which are often enforcement. Yet false advertising gets the “meh”. To this, I also have great issue.

For me, noodles and rice are just cheap fillers. A carrier of better things because I would go bankrupt making my volumetric space full with the quality of real food I want to eat haha. I agree they should taste good, but…meh. that said, a proper lie on advertisement requires a report in my opinion.

There’s also the issue of flavor, marination, food safety and fda. The best food countries don’t have those worries. Nor did Taiwan decades ago. Runny shit meant a tasty meal yesterday :yum:

Gasp, Kaohsiung didn’t make the list
