Taiwanese food sucks!

Well, i changed my opinion on that after i visited vietnam. However i’m not completely sure of the reason why most small vietnam restaurants here are just average. Might have something to do with the women running them doing it more as a hobby instead of being pro chefs or something. The dishes are not massively different, the main difference here is they don’t do the plate of herbs gimmick, i guess taiwanese are not keen on that?

I asked a Vietnamese lady who was running a restaurant here why there’s no big plate of weeds. She said Taiwanese prefer cooked vegetables and they can’t afford to waste them. I also miss the cool noodles and grilled meats.

me too. i found a place a while back that did a grilled pork bahn mi and it was ace. it was closed down the next time i went to get some food.

I can’t wait to come back to Taiwan to eat some Taiwanese food.

I think that’s actually “cock cum”.

Lucky you!

Good place

Are they actually real 河粉 though? Every time I order it here I get chewy indigestible 板條.

Bahnmi Game On Point

Where is this place with grilled meat and cool noodles???

Sorry

my kitchen

90% of the food here is my idea of a nightmare. As a semi serious bodybuilder I can’t stand the amounts of grease and oil on every little thing. Having said that I do love those little dan bing. Wow, those are good. It’s good food for drinking with some beer but every day ? Hell no

Bountiful and beautiful fresh fruits and veggies in Taiwan!

This is true.

For me, it’s how the lousy places handle the veggies (overcooked, laced with pork fat) that rankles.

Guy

The Taiwanese just don’t know how to stir fry vegetables like the southern Chinese.

You mean use gutter oil? Makes it extra crispy!

what kind of place offers dan bing and beer? sounds like a real taike breakfast. rounded off with a fresh bag of fragrant betelnuts.

i’d take the overcooked water spinach in taiwan everyday rather than the “par-steamed” bland broccoli here in the west. but i’m not a vegetarian so i don’t care if they use lard or pork bits to fry their veggies. i just know i eat a lot more vegetables when i’m in taiwan than usual.
