Taiwanese food sucks!

My point is: a lot of potential with the basic ingredients (veggies included), which are not always treated with much care. The places that do are a genuine treat.

Cheers,
Guy

i’m not a veggie connoisseur, just put enough garlic and msg in there and i’m happy^^ i’m a lot pickier with my meats :smirk_cat:

Happily Taiwan’s fruits are typically not subjected to this “handling.” : P

Enjoying them now, with the proliferation of mangoes and other summer fruits, is a treat. But that belongs in the “Taiwan’s Awesome Fruit” thread, not here. : D

Guy

I mean ginger, garlic, etc.

McDonalds sucks. Singaporean, Malay, Vietnamese, Indian… good… and then there’s this

Taiwanese food is the best and good price too. McDonald’s is awful. Chicken nuggets not real chicken, vanilla cone not real ice cream, hot cakes not real pancake batter, etc. I’ll take Taiwanese food any day. :yum:

Largely forgotten what mcdonalds tastes like. Been 20 years since I’ve been.

About to use hotel service to order a snack since I am locked in here for a while longer. Bento x3 a day life has been good, but I just want something else to help me feel alive, you know?

If you could only buy one snack from 7, for someone new to Taiwan, what would it be? Sadly, they won’t buy me beer. Tried and failed…

I love those chips! But calling them “hot” is ridiculous. They’re about as spicy as a glass of milk.

Ha. Sounds like my speed. Placing the order now. Looks tasty

Yeah, more paprika than chili, but they’re one of the few palatable items at 小七。

Get the Japanese chips. You can at least be assured that they’re usually not sweet.

This is key. The local brands are disgusting…basically a sugar/MSG bomb.

Noted. I fear for my wallet and health after serving my time lol. My experience so far with the food here has been great, and I have hardly had one yet to say the least. Feel like the frog in the well still.

Taiwanese are lightweights when it comes to spice - and I am so grateful for it.

The things they call spicy have almost none of the kick, while having all (or almost all) the flavor.

Really good stuff.

I wonder if it has something to do with their sensitivity to sugar? I have lost count of the amount of times (especially at bubble tea shops, but also amongst friends in conversation) that I have heard “too sweet” for something that ends up being almost bland (especially in bubble tea shops…).

It’s chicken, bone scratching (pink goo), spices, seasoning, starch, flour, preservatives … pressed in a mold, breaded.

Stop it! You’re making me hungry.

Are you writing about Taiwanese chicken nuggets and Taiwanese vanilla ice cream?

That stuff is the worst. It tastes like it has vanilla-scented candles blended into it.
