That’s like saying some sugar daddies for the DPP are against same sex marriage so all sugar daddies of the DPP are against same sex marriage. By the way, there is a high overlap between those that are quite sexist and those that are against same sex marriage. Regardless, it shows that the DPP as a whole is not controlled by just a few major donors, and that’s a great thing. Most of their voters wanted to legalize same sex marriage, so despite some Presbyterian party leaders members didn’t really want it to happen, the party pushed through for the voters anyway. Same goes for selecting a presidential candidate regardless of gender.
Recent poll from RWNews(who i dont know) is causing a kerfuffle. Has Lai at 37.76% Ko at 32.29% and Hou at 21.87%.
TPP have over 50% of the voters aged between 20-29 and 30-39.
I don’t know this poll, so not sure how reliable it is.
If this is the trend then maybe the KMT will be forced to change Hou
Interesting that KMT is doing worse in Taipei than Yunlin, Chiayi and Tainan
Yeah what’s up with these numbers. If Lai actually wins Taipei / Xinbei / Keelung (the polling you cited claims he is ahead) it’ll be a DPP presidency again.

This poll is everywhere but dont know the polling company or how reliable it is
I don’t know about you man, but I rarely turn to the SCMP for insights on Taiwan politics. For various reasons, they are not the best weather vanes to see which way the wind blows, at least Taiwan politics-wise. ![]()

Lawrence Chung is a good correspondent.

I don’t doubt that this is your opinion.
For many others, however, he is known as a long-standing opponent of Taiwan independence. His reporting (not just with this newpaper) has rarely been seen as balanced. And given the current state of the HK media how could it be even if he wanted it to be so? He could be jailed for not being patriotic enough, or colluding with international forces, or for some other nonsense reason.
But if you still think this is a good weather vane . . .

He is based in Taipei
Didnt know he had any political stances
Missed this, but Lin Fei-fan has withdrawn from the election becasuse of accusations of negligence in sexual misconduct cases.
Such regressive handling. Good to see he withdrew.
TVBS polls require a lot of calibration to be of any use. What’s interesting here is that prior to this latest poll TVBS consistently has Hou out in front by 9 to 3 points. Ko only got 23% in their poll last month. Such a drastic change doesn’t seem like the norm. I wonder if they’ve noticed something internally and decided to change their tactics.
Possibly, im also not giving it that much weight as TVBS polls, but it does seem in line with the general trend, that TPP is on the rise and outperforming KMT.
People keep telling me that a Ko Presidency is impossible, but he’s polling in first place.
Its very much possible but have to see more polls this week.
C Donovan Smithm writing on twitter:
Hou’s campaign didn’t hit the ground running, it hit the dirt with a resounding thud, and hasn’t gotten back up again.
Smith’s latest analysis appears here. Part 2 to follow.
