Taiwan's dual nationality policy vs. America First

Fucking idiots. Pay your f’in taxes - dude makes a couple hundred million on bitcoin and tries to skip out on $40M? They got Al Capone for taxes man. Pay your taxes and enjoy your $200M without worrying about Uncle Sam coming for you. Sweet baby jesus wept at the stupidity.

Continuing, Wang asked Cho if there was any truth to rumors that Taiwan had agreed to “double” the maximum residue limit (MRL) of the feed additive ractopamine in imports of U.S. pork kidneys, which is currently 0.04 parts per million.

“There are no numbers of this sort being discussed,” Cho replied, before continuing somewhat more ambiguously.

Taiwan prohibits its own farmers from using the drug.

So how about Taiwan prohibit its own citizens from obtaining dual
nationality, but allow Americans to get it.

But that won’t benefit Taiwanese. So anyone who proposes that would be political suicide.

Pakistani nationality law - Wikipedia.

Doesn’t matter. Countries will do what’s best for them.

As @Marco will tell you about the discussions with Taiwanese politicians…. They often say “why should we give up such an awesome advantage?”

They all know full well that their kids can become U.S. citizens without renouncing and many of their family/kids are through birthright.

However, they don’t care about an American English teacher coming to Taiwan.

Where is the deal?

I never said that.

I believe you (or someone else in discussions) said something along those lines before. In the dual nationality petition.

Here it is, I just searched it. I may have misquoted you a little in that it may have come from a normal Taiwanese not a politician. Either way… This is often the view.

Leaders of countries will do what they think is best for themselves, which may or may not be in the best interests of the citizens overall…

Agreed. This is often the case too. (Probably more so)

The government negotiates bilateral dual nationality treaties with participating states, which each separately agree with Pakistan that the nationals of either country are not required to renounce their nationality before naturalising in the other.

Anyone can say that. It’s not even sourced. Do you have proof of such deals? Where are the treaties? Does any other country that allows dual citizenship with Pakistan bar it for other countries in general?

How can the Pakistani government negotiate with countries that already allow it?

Pakistan: We want to negotiate. You allow your citizens to be dual nationals with us and we’ll allow our citizens to be dual nationals with you.
Canada: We already allow dual nationality with all other countries.
Pakistan: Glad to have come to this arrangement. Pleasure doing business.

Honestly just sounds like Pakistan has an inflated sense of self importance and pretends to make deals about stuff that don’t need a deal.

Lai needs green light from Washington

Put yourself in President Lai’s shoes.

On such issues affecting Americans, of course he will wait for a signal
from Washington on how to proceed, one way or the other.

Once he gets a green light however, it doesn’t matter if there were 5000
signatures for, or against, or even referendums, they’ll approve it. Just
like with ractopamine.

And just like with ractopamine, it seems we will need some powerful lobbyists in Washington.

Signal for…

Trump added it is possible Russian oligarchs could qualify for the gold cards, when asked by a journalist if those people would be eligible. “Yeah, possibly. Hey. I know some Russian oligarchs that are very nice people,” he said.

Cool. Take market share away from the UK.

Can you explain?

A gold colored traffic signal light, albeit pointed in a different direction.

You’re not making very much sense.

Taiwan will look at what America does, just as one looks at a traffic light

Gold color refers to America’s proposed $5M gold card to replace the EB-5 permanent residency program.

But even if the light turns green, Taiwan could be looking down at their phone and not do anything.
