They better stop dragging their feet in the negotiations before more economic recessions etc play out internationally. Otherwise, there’ll be more casualties in the emerging regions.

maybe he thinks NK can replace US as its big export market, bahaha
I think I posted before on this. NYC and Taiwan will probably benefit most from all this if Trump secures a second term.
Why New York ?_?
Stock market bonanza!
Giant’s factory in Taiwan now has to run double shifts in order to catch up with the relocated orders. Tu said that “the era of Made In China and supplying globally is over.”
One can only hope.
“The company saw a record 9.8 percent spike in share value on Monday and its stock has been up by 80 percent this year, the highest increase in four years.”
Jesus…
Trump’s business tax cut has moved maybe, maybe nearly US$1 trillion in cash flow to the US.
Follow the cash flow and you see where the world feeks safe and unsafe.
Conversely, look at how ChiComms have tried to turn off their leaky outflows through all kinds of means.
HP has drawn up plans to move some 20% to 30% of production outside China, two sources familiar with the matter told Nikkei. The company is looking at gradually building a new supply chain in Thailand or Taiwan. The production shift could kick off as early as the end of the July-September quarter but it is still subject to change, one person said.
Dell has already started a “pilot run” of notebook production in Taiwan, Vietnam and the Philippines, two people who knew about the plan said.
that giant vacuum sound of manufacturing jobs leaving China.
It’s not just the tech giants, or 3C related manufacturers in general. I know people who work for one of the biggest manufacturers of diving material in the world, it’s a Taiwanese manufacturer and the have factories in several countries, including china, and this year they’re going to close the chinese factory. They’ll move all production to vietnam, thailand and cambodia, as well as Taiwan. They’re not a retail brand, they produce the goods for many well known brands in Eu, US and Au.
The tariffs, combined with the fact that labor cost in China is more expensive than neighboring countries, is costing the Chinese government an amount of money that is incalculable. And I mean that in a literal way, because most people just think about the lost tax revenues, but there’s also going to be tens or hundreds thousands people losing their jobs, losing a source of income, further reducing the government’s revenues and causing all sorts of social problems. That’s because people who have been working in factories all life doing jobs that require little to no qualification cannot evolve into doctors or engineers overnight; they’re going to be unemployed and looking for jobs in a shrinking market.
It looks like after his latest talk with Xi, Trump decided to skip the extra 300b in tariffs, but the 250b are still enough to hurt china in a way that will probably make them wish they wasted less money on rusty carriers.
And that’s assuming the talks between the US and chinese team will go well, because it happened in the past that Trump said:“Oh yeah we had a nice talk, all good” then when it came down to actually talking moneyz everything went South and Winny Pooh got buttraped.
Whatever you may think of the Man, Trump appears to be effective in term of putting the brakes on China .
China is such a huge economy and so tightly controlled , it can limit the effects in the short-term , but some of the measures in place will have far longer term implication for Manufacturers in China .
Even if T “appears” to be giving concessions in the talks , the damage is done to the Banks, money supply, currency , property , … maybe needs a major rethink in China . Much bravado , but I think China is just starting to realize how dangerous this could be for them in the long term.
It also serves to weaken their hand in other areas like HK, Taiwan , 5G, S. China Sea, Silk Road …I love it .
Heres a list of a few Companies Leaving China due to the Tariff Wars.

That’s 17 so far! China will just manufacture for its own domestic market in the near future.
@mokkie, one thing to realize, when FDI leaves, so does the technology transfers that came with it. i believe those are just the tip of the iceberg.
100s or 1000s more of SMEs will be leaving too.
Again, China is losing technology transfer when FDI skedaddles

My opinion is that the long -term damage is going to make China have to innovate and design . That is good for them , but they may well start to fall behind in that race because tech moves way too fast to catch up . There are a few areas where they are ahead of the game , but the isolation may well affect advancements. Manufacturers will go for low costs … until the politics become a riskier proposal . I see the same scenarios possible in Vietnam , India Pakistan … politics there are questionable … when the chess board games draw to a close , I suspect manufacturing will migrate to stable countries . It will just take time to figure out which ones are stable
I think Pooh may well poke the bees nests if things get really bad … to divert attention away from losing . Sadly the population will probably back him . Taiwan and HK are possible areas of trouble . Fortunately for Taiwan , the US seems to be enforcing ties …guess it may all depend on which way Putin goes , but Russia is not what it was . I shall remain calm
“Taiwan firms’ exports account for at least 10 per cent of total Chinese exports, and 37 Taiwanese firms operating in China are in the top 100 exporters’ list to US,” the report said.
Taiwanese firms employ some 10 million people on the mainland, with 60 per cent of them in the information and communication technology (ICT) industry.
even if 20% leave that’s a 2% drop in China exports
