The Ashes Thread

Post all Ashes stuff here! It’s going to be a good one, methinks! Who’s going to swing the Kookaburra more?

Nice article: news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/cricket … 103048.stm

Underestimate the Aussies at home to your peril!

Bloody Poms! :raspberry: (Actually, I’m rooting for the dastardly Poms.)

The Ashes was lost the moment Strauss got himself a duck trying to cut. I can see this series ending up 2-0 or 2-1 to the Crims. I expect Punter and Hussey to get shiteloads of runs.

Early on Day 2, Crims have a 30 run lead with 5 first innings wickets in hand. Hussey has his first ton of the series, 105 n/o.

Hussey gone for 195. He and Haddin put on 300 odd and the Crims have a lead of 200. Mitchell Johnson gone! Crims are 463/8. Aussie,Aussie,Aussie…oi,oi,oi!!

When it comes to the crunch, there’s virtually ALWAYS someone in the Aussie team who puts his hand up. Goddammit, they’re a tenacious bunch!

Great second innings start by England. Can they maintain? :ponder:

anyone know a pub or other in Taipei showing the ashes? i know it’s a long shot…

magnificent effort by Mr Crickey, Mike Hussey…

A MOST impressive second innings start from England! :bravo:

Great stuff from the Poms. They have batted themselves to a draw. The Crims new ball attack not looking all that dangerous. Good to see Cook moving his feet and scoring some runs. The Poms lead by 88 with 9 wickets in hand at stumps on Day 4. I hope the Poms just bat through Day 5 and destroy the Crim bowlers confidence.

Try JBs, On Tap, or the Tavern.

England 439-1 at lunch. Bloody hell. Centuries from the first three England batsmen, a double ton from Cook*.

Looking good for England! Actually, I don’t give a fuck who wins, as long as it’s not the Crims who cry like little girls. Ponting weeping is, like, better than any midget porn that I’ve EVER seen!

The utter CHEEK of that miserable little whiner, Ponting, complaining about SLEDGING! :loco: guardian.co.uk/sport/2010/de … rad-haddin

The pot calling the kettle black?

KP closing in on a double ton…kiss of death please.
Poms have a lead of 265. I think I might find a stream of the game just so I can catch a glimpse of Punters sour expression :discodance:

Stream link sent.

Great watching Petersen batting like this, double century beckoning-then I reckon he’d have to go on and get a new high score (224 was previous test HS). But he must be tired by now, he really moves around and it’s hot out there. With 524/4 and 44 overs left, England should aim to bat 30 and bowl 10-and 30* 4 runs an over would get them to 600-650 or so, and a lead of 350-400. Let’s see.

Thanks mate. Shame about the rain. Hope it doesn’t hurt the Poms chances of a result.

Looks like the Crims have paid off the weather gods…probably no more play today. Poms have a lead of 300 odd.

Weather permitting, methinks the Poms have got the goods to take this one.
