In that store is it easy to find a table/seat or is it necessary to book in advance? I’m curious to try it but my schedule in Taipei is always a bit random.
Most ramen shops won’t allow reservations. Your best bet is to head over from Qsquare and see if there’s a line. I think it’s only a 10 min walk once you exit the bus station.
Sigh. The best one we have in Yilan is in Luodong, they don’t take reservations and it’s an extremely tiny restaurants. The first time I had to wait outside almost 1.5 hours -___-’
But I’ll definitely give that one in Taipei a try, if queues allows me to.
Since 90% of the time I arrive in Taipei in technology building station, my favorite one is in a small lane in front of the University of Education. It used to be a great beef noodles restaurant, with probably my favorite uber-spicy beef noodles, and I was saddened when it closed. But it evolved into a decent yet cheap ramen restaurant, so I’m pretty ok with that.
I like this place in Zhongshan though I haven’t had a lot of the places other people mention, so not sure how it stacks up. Small store with odd hours and always a line, but it moves quick and the food is incredible. Not sure what ‘style’ ramen… the best stuff has thick, gravy-like sauces.
@ckw_64 I have compiled all the suggested places in this map. Thanks to the option “Suggest a place to the list” (top left), you can have a collaborative list.
I am the co-founder of Doko Maps a tool to create, organize and share favorite places on map.
Please feel free to use it and share with us your feedback (p.s. we are in the beginning of this project, feedback (good or bad) is the best way we can improve and I read every single response, so please don’t hold back Thank you
Also my favorite. There’s a small place in the area of Songjiang-Nanjing that’s not crowded. No lines. But on cold days you do need to arrive at or earlier than 12 to ensure a seat for lunch. Or I guess you can go after 1 and probably be okay. I’ll post pics the next time I go. I like getting the medium spicy, low 麻 (mah) and with cilantro (which they pile on top).
Here we go. Found some old pictures. One with cilantro and the other without.
Check out the newly opened Ichi Ramen if you still go by Technology Building. They serve the dipping kind where you get a bowl of dry noodles and a separate bowl of broth in which to dip the noodles before you stuff them into your mouth. Delish! On the west side of Fuxing just north of Xinhai.
No. Go further south about 300 meters. Ogawa is pretty good. It’s run by a Japanese chef. But I won’t be going there anymore now that Ichinomiya is just down the street.
