The clock on the wall sez 4:20

See what I mean kids?

This is the most sensible post yet. Seriously. I like this post.

I agree. I would never take back any of the things that I have done. It may have hurt but I have learnt priceless lessons from it and it has made me what I am today.

People who have never done drugs are neither more stupid nor smarter than anyone else. Nor does it mean that they lack curiosity, adventurousness and humour. I understand the reality of my own fragile sense of reality.

Humble. Humble is being able to see the truth about yourself, that is being humble. Not false humility, which is often passed off as being humble.

The stupid stoner cliche is over done. If I added to it, I am sorry.
People don’t only experiment with drugs to experience other types of consciousness, some do, but most really don’t. For most it comes down to peer pressure and many other unfortunate life circumstances. To put everyone experimenting in drugs down to trying other types of consciousness would be very off target.

To say that I have no experience with marijuana is true. I never based my argument on that or anything that could only be gained from personal experience. So, yes, I don’t have any fundamental experience with weed. But, you are assuming to know my life from me saying that I have no experience with weed. That doesn’t mean that I have no experience with addictions. It also doesn’t meant that I don’t know the feeling of highs and lows, I do. How, that is an entirely different story and one that is best left for those closest to me.

I’d really like to keep the debate on fact rather than feeling and personal experience. If we want to tell stories, well, I could have you weeping like a baby with my life story, but that is something that I’ve moved on from and I don’t use it in a debate.

Your experience is honest and I respect it, in the same way I hope that you can see the opinion that I am making. I am not making a judgement on you, that is not my place, I am just presenting another, somewhat unpopular, side of an argument.

Now, would someone please tell me how the medical evidence that shows that there IS plenty of things wrong with marijuana is wrong.

Please read carefully, I did not say that the use of marijuana is wrong, or that use of the weed would make you a bad person. What did I say? “What is wrong with marijuana? Plenty,” - Now, what is wrong with that statement, I even produced evidence to support my claim, as I was asked to do. So far, not one person has said anything that shows that my statement or the evidence presented is, in fact, wrong.

I will help you out too. benefitsofmarijuana.com/benefits.html

See, I even looked at both sides.

I just want to add, I have no doubt marijuana has adverse effects on smokers’ health. Not a doubt in the world. I knew that before smoking it, I know it now. Same as with alcohol and cigarettes.

Glad you enjoyed my post. Sorry if I don’t feel like wading through a bunch of scientific literature just now though. I am writing to you between bursts of translating the instuctions to a language learning game that I invented. Guess I must have a few brain cells left. Anyway I don’t know where it was written that these exchanges need to take the form of a debate. If you insist on talking facts though here is one: Psychoactive drugs ave been around for thousands of years. To my knowledge almost every culture has used them as an essential element of religous systems or as social lubricant or a way of diminishing inhibitions therby heightening sexual pleasure. Marijuana has been, and is used by millions of people. If the effects were so staggering don’t you think people would be aware of them by now?

To wit,

If governments would get their heads out of their asses, we could afford it in such amounts as to make baking it cost effective. There goes the entire “unsafe” theory. The only danger of cannabis use is scorching the lungs with hot smoke.

( :homer: mmmmmmm…hot smoooooke)

Sorry bassman, I can’t help you any further with your lame misconceptions. As for helping you remember dear ol’ Dolly and her preferred affections, I can only say, that as a truly red’n’white Canadian, I only know about shagging beaver.

Well put bob, and glad you’ve come thru intact.

For the record, I am an herb-olist. Sure I’ve tried other things, but don’t enjoy them at all.

Now, say you are enjoying a nice afternoon off at home. The pipe is still warm when the call comes…“Stragbasher had a motorcycle accident, we need you to teach”…

When push comes to shove, one may disable the buzz to the tune of 90%.

In straighter words, you can turn off or dim, if you will, the “stoned feeling” to the point where you can operate heavy machinery, and operate it safer than if you were “straight”.

Oh, but claims such as this cry for emperical evidence…

okay…

Whistler…British Columbia…future home of The Olympic Games…and pot capital of the world.

Taxi drivers in this town have unique challenges facing them as they wind their way up and down The Do or Die Highway. Picture the east Taiwan highway with snow, rain, sleet and hyperactive Seattle-ites in a huge hurry to get there and relax, drivers who have never driven on snow in their lives careening around mountain passes and overtaking 4 cars on uphill double lines to usually end in a ravine or worse, giving them a grand start to their dream vacation.

And that’s not the hard part.

While driving within the confines of the town, these stalwart hacks face drunken revelers willing to pound the piss outta each other for your cab, tossing each other in front of cabs trying to weave thru throngs of slipping and tripping drunks on sheets of ice that you could curl on.

And that’s not the hard part.

Now you’ve got these 5 cheap bastards crammed into every nook, screaming “yo dude, you ROCK” all the way up the mountain to their staff accoms, taking back their nickel change and giving the faithful driver a final “G’d on ya mait” before stumbling obnoxiously into their dorms to sleep piled three high in a closet for $400 Cdn a night (okay that parts funny), but not before hooting enough to wake the tourists across the valley.

And that’s not the hard part.

On the way back down the mountain to reload another bunch of serious yahoos, you are more than likely to face some brave soul who blew his last five bucks on a shot of tequila at closing time and figures it’s too cold to walk up the mountain, so he decides to drive his '75 beetle with summer radials up to “staff”.

The hard part is missing him.

And if the drivers, to a man, weren’t stoned to the tits, they probably wouldn’t. Being high allows you to see the road better.

There is lots of talk of “paranoia” while under the influence, or rather, above it. I’ll give this demon its due, paranoia is a side effect experienced by the greener of the greenies, but it soon becomes as controllable as the entire buzz is. I even venture to hypothesize that a seasoned veteran of the great gift can go so far as to use the paranoia against itself in situations where extreme awareness is required. Say for instance, driving down staff hill at 2:30 in the morning. Be prepared, the stoner’s motto. I never go anywhere without mah rizzlas.

FWIW, the really stoned guys that want a cab go wait in a hotel away from the maddening throngs and have the concierge call one of us for them. They are usually mellow enough to not even notice the whole 10 minutes it takes us to get there. Once in, they like to chat, or listen to cool music, usually offer you a couple of bucks and a dank nugg for a tip.

Careful, a very stoned guy wrote this.

O.K. here is some more science. I mean fact is science no? You know that fantastic b.c. weed people are always talking about? The kind with the super high THC levels? Well I have smoked literally pounds of that stuff. (And I do mean literally literally not figuratively literally if you catch my drift) So far I haven’t died of lung cancer. These are facts. If I might venture into that nebulous oh so inconsequential area of personal experience I would hasten to add that the stuff made me act like a fucking lunatic. I am one of those motor mouth pot heads that can’t stop talking when he is high. Lost a lot of friends that way. Strangely enough the only people who could stand me when I was like that were Chinese people. Very few Chinese smoke pot as far as I know.

And I was gonna look for a bald guy in a yellow T tomorrow. Too bad.

I dunno that I am all that intact toe save. I mean I did more than a few bloody stupid things beacuse of drugs. I think that I am an extreme case though and see no sense in telling lies. Yes drugs can seriously screw you up. Yes it is possible to use drugs wisely and have a significantly enriched life because of them. These seem to me to be facts. So if you are going to mess with dope remember this: YOU ARE MESSING WITH THE THING THAT MAKES THE JUDGEMENT ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT TO CONTINUE. This is by it’s very nature dangerous. I eny and admire people with the insight and the self control to use drugs wisely. Too bad I am not one of them. You may not be either. Only time will tell.

Don’t you hate it when it takes you so long to write a reply that somebody else writes one before you do and then it looks like you are responding to something that somebody said a long time ago…

Well, I admire your candor and thank you for sharing it on this thread. I know bass-y wanted no experiential sharing, but I’d rather have your opinion than his anyway.

Hey Bass-ey, be careful what you ask for. :smiling_imp:

While you’re right about the tuning down the buzz, having been through a story similar - but much worse - to yours, I’m not entirely comfortable with using something like that as an analogy.

And I wouldn’t say it would make things safer. Maybe, maybe as safe, but not safer.

I swear on my stash man…safer! .

You concentrate on the road and imagine all things that can go wrong whilst devising escape scenarios. C’mon, you’re buzzed. The mind races tho the body remains really really inert.

I drove a $100,000 (Cdn) Van-o-sine. HUge cruiser van, all leather, tiny boobtube and vcr (could watch while I drove, catching the reflection of the cathode rays off my highly sheened and decoratively curtained rear window in my otherwise useless rearview mirror. But more on my personal driving prowess later). These were expensive machines. Oversized everything, except the brakes.

Having factory issue stoppers, we were told, simply and often, not to use them. At all. No Brakes! When possible.

Now, more on the Do or Die Highway, or more marketingly spun, The Sea to Sky Highway, HIGHway 99 North, the last vestige of freewheeling pavement on continental North America, humbly hereafter preferring to be referred to as Central West Pacific, to be specific, ( the audacity of those american types to lay claim to anything “north”, much less the splendour that is the west pacific. Come on, Uncle Sam’s nieces and nephews, the PacificNorthWest is in Alaska and the very best part of Canada. I’ve digressed almost long enough with the obvious exception to note that Alaska’s true “ownership” may be worthy of a thread, but not here. On the high n’ar chance I’ll stick a Toe into the IP Forum? Maybe.

Back to the highway, a highway so dangerous and beautiful, it twists and turns, it dives and climbs, rocks slide across it, taking 30 metre swaths out of its snaky torso, closing, stranding, stewpefying tourists and locals alike. A highway often closed with limited 15 minute windows of op (u pick opportunity or openings) due to the endless task of pruning and scaling its dragonskin we dare to slip along, uninvited.

it stuns the mind blinder than the glare off of the Pacific Ocean and her exquisite jewels, The Gulf Islands bobbing amongst mostly unseen Orcas and friends, It’s yin/yang flirtation with absolute beauty and absolute peril outshines the glare off the impossibly of this world glaciers hung steeply from Tolkienian mountains, fluted by mother nature’s iciest of breathes. With a logging truck or 4 around every blind turn, twisting and winding it’s way along the spine of the continent. Not as blinding as those same logging trucks high beams coming off a squall-soaked ashpalt, and by ash, I mean pitch. Timeframe: Midnight milk run from YVR. And remember…

No brakes.

The owner was a fatidious man. He ran a small but successful fleet of limos, charging 50% more than his competition, with all the right local contacts. We had to polish those pigs within inches of our skin. Very professional op.

And he kept his stash underneath his coffee table in his living room. If he had time, he’d roll you one before you hit the road, or we could help ourselves. He would even make you breakfast sometimes. Great guy.

He trusted his entire business to a bunch of ski-bum potheads. He claimed potheads made safer drivers. He is still running The Do or Die today and will be a very rich man come spring 2010.

He’d get ya high then tell ya not to use the brakes.

And we could all do it. I think I actually made it all the way from Whistler Creek to Horsehoe Bay without so much as thinking about touching them at least half a dozen times.

Baked on Stinky Ed.

Let’s not forget about those pals-o-mine that actually drop those very glaciers your jaw gets a Toe’s eyeview of. What, would you imagine, is the last thing they do before jumping off of one of the vampire goddess mother of nature’s pearly fangs dripping with her iceblood is? Well, having been Stinky Farmer Ed’s former-roomate, I can tell you exactly what they were doing.

But then I’d have to kill bassman. (He’s not like us)

Of course, I tease.

Ever been to meager creek?

Nope…West Pembie is the furthest I’ve gone that way…

I have been to some very cool spots in other places along the same basic thermal. I love that stuff…meagre, like Phucket, is overrun with loogans.
Ok, now I’ve said my bit, it’s your turn now.

I don’t want to hear about your personal experience. Frankly, if you are a user, I am not interested in your experience. Show, with evidence to back it up, how marijuana is safe. Not showing that it is safer than other drugs or alcohol, but how it is in fact safe.

Ok, go.
“Safe”? 100%? Shit, man, crossing the street around here isn’t safe. Are you going to ban that too?

The real question to ask is, is smoking pot a major health hazard. And the evidence has pretty much shown that it isn’t. It’s less risky, and less addictive, than tobacco. It’s less damaging than alcohol by far.

The real point is that you don’t have to
smoke
it.

You can eat it.

Thereby eliminating ALL health risks.

If I could legally grow my own, I would bake, bake, bake.

Baked Goods.

I like it. I like it alot.

Seems I am in good company.

Once in a while they used to send us bums downtown for employment counselling and life skills training. I only had to go once but that was quite an educational experience I can tell you. Of course all the bums were white guys, but the life skills trainer that they assigned to my group was this wicked hot little asian girl. She was maybe about twenty four. She used to scrunch herself down in her seat so she could check out our packages. Then she would make sly little remarks about the “growing” need for this or that…You get the picture. At times she would have the whole lot of us sitting there with hard ons oggling her gorgeous little body. So anyway the last day of the course comes along and it turns out our class is to be paid the honor of a visit from some beauraucrat or other who is going to really put things in perspective for us. It’s all a very big deal. Quite a privilege and all that. Naturally I did the right thing and ate a gram of blond lebanese hash about an hour before the grand lecture was set to begin. Things bubbled along smoothly through her presentation as far as I could tell and then she wrote in big letters on the board the four secrets to our future success. “Any questions?” she asked finally. “Yeah” I said “number four looks like a Picaso.” She turned around and looked at what she had written, turned back to me, and with just a hint of a grin said “Your right. Class dismissed.” Don’t know what happened to the asian girl.

God, I wish I had stories like that.

Maybe I do and I was so wasted I can’t remember them

And Toe - all I know is, in the one instance where my buddies and I had to turn down the buzz, the extenuating circumstances would most likely have kicked in enough other brain-produced chemicals to knock the buzz right on the head.

Maybe I’m not ‘hip’, to this ‘scene’, because I don’t ‘toke’ a lot of ‘reefer’, but I really don’t get the title of this thread. ???
