Does the US even pretend to prosecute when a company or individual is above a certain net worth?

Too big to fail should replace lady liberty as the legal motto

One prosecutor’s opinion:

Vance is not bound by that policy because he is not a federal prosecutor, but he may still have been reluctant to charge Trump because of uncertainty over whether the case was constitutional, said Harry Sandick, a former prosecutor in New York.

‘Those concerns will disappear when Trump leaves office,’ Sandick said. The investigation poses a threat to Trump, said Corey Brettschneider, a professor of political science at Brown University.

“The fact that they have issued the subpoenas and have litigated all the way to the Supreme Court suggests that this is a very serious criminal investigation of the president,” Brettschneider said.

Who’s whining? This is serious discussion.

He can’t be pardoned for anything he has not been prosecuted for yet.

Only possible for Federal crimes, is it not?

Did you try Taiwan jail? There are records from foreigners that really wouldn’t advice getting in here. Anyways, if you like sleeping in a bed instead on the floor, next to the poop hole that doubles as a ‘shower’.

So what are Taiwan jail like? and does it matter whether it’s for serious crimes or petty crimes (as in you can pay a fine but can’t or won’t pay and won’t take community service)?

American jails actually suck for medical care because they won’t treat a lot of things… especially private prison will try to skimp on that.

Yes. Here’s why he’s sweating:

WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that President Donald Trump cannot keep his tax returns and financial records away from a New York City prosecutor pursuing possible hush-money payments during the 2016 White House race.

The court temporarily blocked congressional investigators from gaining access to many of the same records. It sent the effort by House Democrats back to a lower court for further review of the separation of powers between the executive and legislative branches.

Both 7-2 decisions were written by Chief Justice John Roberts and joined by Trump’s two nominees, Associate Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh. The court’s two other conservatives, Associate Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, dissented.

They’re gonna potentially have his taxes for 8 years, and the testimony of guys like Cohen and others who were around him for years, being ordered to inflate his asset values to secure bank loans.

I always believed he just ran for office to get away from prosecution, he already had a lot coming before 2016, even earlier than that.

I don’t believe that, I think he wanted to up his brand. He never wanted to actually win, when he did he knew it would put him under more scrutiny.

The last four years he just ruined his brand.

Not to mention that of the entire Republican Party. They hitched their wagon to the trump train and went totally off the rails.

As the ‘biggest’ deal maker he made a lot of wrong decisions, probably all just on impulse.

This must explain why the Republicans did so well down ballot.

Gerrymander districts?

Republicans don’t have a monopoly on gerrymandering. Democrats do it too.

Bingo.

It shouldn’t be.
