The officer just told me that “Your application has been transferring to Immigration Agency for further review now”, so I didn’t know if it’s approved or not !
Normally the NIA part doesn’t take long, you will know very soon ![]()
Seems it didn’t tell me my case went to “Ministry of Foreign Affairs/Overseas” but directly transfer to NIA, is it a good or bad sign ? Or they didn’t said anything about that information on your application ?
If you already have an ARC or an actual Visa then it would skip that stage anyway.
You’re not notified of every transition, but you can see it if you refresh every 1 hour like I did
I have not received any “official” notifications of progress for any of the steps. The steps I have posted above have been half due to requests for info and half because I logged onto the site and saw that there was a change.
So I expect it would be easy to “miss” a step simply because it happened quickly and didn’t trigger any additional requirements. ![]()
And today I logged in and there is a new change! ![]()
Interestingly, it is now in a status which is not described here:
After submitting your application | Taiwan Gold Card - Taiwan Foreign Talent Community
It now says it is at “Passport Inspection at the Bureau of Consular Affairs or Overseas Missions of R.O.C. (Taiwan)”
So it’s out of the Ministry now, and Passport Inspection seems reasonably analogous/adjacent to NIA. ![]()
that’s the actual last step, it is approved basically. Now you just need to verify at a TECO that your passport is true. After that you get the collection notice and entry permit.
Hey guys, good news the status just change to : “IC Card in Process”
I just received a mail (2023/09/13 at 1030am)…
Congratulations! Your application submission for “Employment Gold Card” on 2023/07/17 has been officially approved. This e-mail is to notify you that your application is now entering the certificate stage.

So for me, the situation was :
2023/07/17 : Send the application
2023/08/15 : Consultation by ministry of Digital affairs
2023/09/11 : Transfer to NIA
2023/09/13 : IC Card in Process
2023/09/14 : Got the email with ARC Gold Card
Congrats. It should be done in a day or two.
Is it permissible to have a 3rd party collect an employment gold card from the immigration office while the applicant is outside of Taiwan?
I see that previously this has been answered on this forum in the afirmative. However, the goldcard website indicates that to have a 3rd party pick up the card the applicant must also be in Taiwan.
NIA could theoretically check some database to see if you’re actually in the county, but my guess is that as long as your friend brings the correct forms and forms of id, (especially the pick up receipt and the signed document saying you are willing to let someone else pick up), they’ll just give the gold card to your friend no questions asked.
Not endorsing doing it the non-official way or anything, but my guess is that as long as all the documents look right they’ll just sift through their rubber banded pile of cards at the front desk and not spend too much time wondering if you’re already in the country or not.
Most likely the worst that could happen is that they tell your friend no and you just pick it up after you arrive.
Hi everyone, I’m currently in Taiwan with a gold card and still employed by my US-based employer. Does anyone know whether I’d likely be declined for an extension or APRC if I don’t find a Taiwan-based employer before the visa expires?
Has anyone tried extending or gotten APRC while maintaining a foreign employer?
as long as u keep qualifying under any of the categories and the respective requirements, they won’t refuse u being for being without TW employer. APRC need to show the assets/salary to qualify also
You don’t need an employer, or a Taiwanese employer, as long as you meet the income requirement.
I think that’s in general, but especially if you have a gold card. I don’t think they even ask for employer details (at least that I remember, when I applied for an APRC from a gold card just over a month ago).
What did you do to show income to meet APRC requirements or is that not required for Gold Card holders?
I used my itemized income tax certificate from last year.
Thank you!
Just make sure your income is counted as wages and not business or investment income, but since you are not self-employed that shouldn’t be in question. The tax office is pretty accommodating anyway. I am self-employed and they classified my income as 5F which is fine.
9A and 9B are fine too - see my post here:
