The Five Best Newspapers/Magazines In The World?

As an avid newsreader, I’m interested to know which five newspapers/magazine Forumosans rate as the best?

Things I rate a quality newspaper/magazine by include their objectivity, style, content, range of topics addressed, actual useful information contained within, the funnies and the feeling that the time I spent perusing the paper was time well spent, and that I’m that little bit more knowledgeable or wordly wise for having read it.

So, which are your five (or more) favourite newspapers/magazines (and their websites please)?

Cheers!

I think The Economist is often quite good.

The Economist
The New York Times
Business Week
Men’s Health
Consumer Reports
The Atlantic Monthly

Oops that’s six.

Glamour
Shape
InStyle
Health & Fitness
Crochet Weekly

The China Post and the Mandarin Daily News (kids edition)

The Economist
New York Times
Christian Science Monitor

The title of this thread is best newspaper or magazine, not best “asswipe.”

Economist
Business Week
Vanity Fair
Cigar Aficionado
National Review (right-wing)
Spectator (right-wing)
New Statesmen (left-wing)

Worst Magazines or Papers

Globe and Mail
Macleans

:raspberry:

The Taipei Times is good too.

Maxim
S I
Dungeon
Dragon
Fantasy Football Today

Knitters Review (Exciting free pattern on pages 42 and 43)
Gardening Times (With this weeks rockery layout and helpful soil tips)
Ham radio monthly (Tips on occilators and VHF frequencies this issue).
Dinosaur weekly (Free collectible dinosaur with each issue).
Gerbil magazine (Tips on how to play tennis with your gerbil without breaking its legs).

Actually, I don’t really read current events magazines. It’s too difficult to find a truly unbiased paper or magazine.

For unbiased, objective, erudite and searching articles and oped pieces, you simply can’t beat your super soaraway Sun. Plus, its got titties aplenty.

I’d imagine that would be terribly difficult. You’d need to keep your buttocks firmly clenched at all times or risk dropping the little fellow, whereupon you’d probably step on him, breaking far more than his legs. And how would you be able to make a decent passing shot in that condition? Thank goodness for this type of magazine!

MAXIM, without a doubt. Their articles so good, I doubt I could write them, any other mag/newspaper I could write myself wid da given info which they just swipe off da news wire.

The New Yorker
The Economist
Sports Illustrated
National Geographic
New York Times

You “read” MAXIM for the “articles”. Mmm-hmmm.

The Economist, Guardian, and Taipei Times serve my newsreading needs as well as I could ever ask for.

Forumosans most consistently mention The Economist. Also, apart from one poster, it’s mentioned as the best one… do we have a winner?

(I agree that the best newspaper in the world is The Economist, but I like Kristeligt Dagblad and Berlingshe Tidende as well).

I love and adore my Sydney Morning Herald, although claiming it as one of the best is probably dubious unless you want Sydney-specific news

Whenever I read a really well-written opinion piece, I invariably find it was swiped from The Guardian or occasionally, the New York Times.

The Economist
The Atlantic
The New Republic
The National Geographic (surprised this one hasn’t been mentioned yet…I thought everybody started reading it when they were a kid)
BBC
NY Times
