The New York State News and Politics Thread

It seems more women have come forward with accusations of sexual misconduct. Doesn’t mean he’s guilty but definitely adding on to the list of things.

We passed this billboard going into Albany, this morning.:

And suddenly Andy thinks the covid is over!

The woman told associates that Cuomo touched her inappropriately late last year inside the governor’s mansion after she was summoned there on official business, the Albany Times Union said.
The Times Union said it was withholding her name because she couldn’t be reached for comment.
Her allegations recently reached a supervisor in the state Executive Chamber and were reported to Cuomo’s counsel and the office of Attorney General Letitia James, the Times Union reported.

It was not until New York Attorney General Letitia James issued a report last month that Cuomo might have underestimated the number of nursing home deaths by as much as 50 percent that he began to feel any real heat. His problems soon worsened when an aide admitted that his staff had deliberately altered a report about the nursing home deaths to undercount the total in order to shield Cuomo from scrutiny.

Cuomo’s deceptions about the nursing home deaths puts the lie to the claim that his pandemic record was a contrast to Trump’s incompetence. But it’s also an indictment of all those media outlets that refused to listen to Dean and other Cuomo critics. Rather than investigating the issue with the same scrutiny they gave to every Trump scandal, real or imagined, outlets like the Times treated the question of Cuomo’s responsibility for several thousand unnecessary deaths with not much more than the same lack of curiosity they showed when evidence of Hunter Biden’s influence-peddling was revealed during the fall campaign.

While James’ report and the subsequent admissions of lying by Cuomo’s staff are finally being covered, they were quickly overshadowed by the stories about the governor’s apparent pattern of sleazy behavior toward young female employees. While those accusations are serious, that pile-on can’t make up for the media’s failure to question Cuomo’s coronavirus record in a more timely fashion. Nor can the subsequent calls for Cuomo’s resignation from some of his fellow Democrats excuse their willingness to play along with the myths about his competence and virtue so long as it served their partisan interests. With Trump out of the picture, Cuomo’s reputation ceased being a cudgel to wield against Republicans, leaving him to face credible charges of fatal blunders and sexual misconduct without the media bodyguards that previously protected him from too much scrutiny.

The Mario Cuomo Bridge, which replaced the rickety and heavily-trafficked Tappan Zee Bridge in 2017, has “structural safety” issues that could lead to its collapse, an Albany Times Union investigation found. Cuomo named the bridge after his father, who was New York’s governor from 1983 to 1994.

Snapping bolts that are supposed to pin down the bridge’s suspension cables were the primary issue, the Times Union reported.

The eight-month investigation also found that “Tappan Zee Constructors, the private corporation building the bridge for the state authority, may have committed fraud by concealing the fact that large numbers of bolts had been breaking due to either improper installation techniques, manufacturing defects, or both.”

In January 2016, an ironworker got hit in the face with part of a bolt that snapped when he was trying to use a torque wrench to tighten it, with the piece of metal ricocheting off an overhang and splitting his lip open when he looked up.

“When you look at them, bro, the heads of them were like hollow, bad spot, sometimes the shank-lead to the thread has got a hollow spot,” one of the ironworkers told James McNall, the project’s safety director at the Port of Coeymans, the Times Union reported.

McNall, who was fired later in 2016 after problems with the bolts kept happening, secretly recorded conversations with engineers and ironworkers handling the bridge assembly at the port. He played them for a quality-assurance inspector at Alta Vista, a private firm hired by the New York State Thruway Authority.

During a meeting at a restaurant in the Albany suburb of Colonie, McNall told the inspector that Tappan Zee Constructors may have committed fraud.

A whistleblower later came forward to report the issue, and experts began to worry that the bolt snapping could lead to a collapse of the bridge, which has not even been moored in the Hudson River for a full decade.

It’s convenient for Democrats that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s scandal has shifted from him sentencing more than 15,000 seniors to death by allowing COVID-19 patients access to nursing homes to “Me-too” allegations.
Convenient because Democratic governors in Michigan, New Jersey, Illinois and Pennsylvania followed the same disastrous coronavirus practices in their nursing homes and would more likely be held accountable by their constituents if it received more air-time by the national media.
Broadcast news networks ABC, CBS and NBC have spent nearly three times as much coverage on allegations from several women that Mr. Cuomo sexually harassed them in recent years than they did on his nursing home scandal, according to a new report from the Media Research Center. The less the press focuses on the nursing homes, the more cover they provide to the likes of Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy.

Nah, same one as b4. The story is picking up. Little State support by Dems. Blood in the water imo.

Not everything is about Biden, either.

The new video of #2016

Ana Liss, a former aide to Gov. Cuomo, is finally speaking out, saying she feels the need to share her story and speak up to support the other women who have come forward with sexual harassment allegations against the governor.

She worked with the Cuomo administration on economic development from 2013 to 2015.

She describes the workplace was “toxic” and “soul crushing.”

She says the governor was demeaning and would call her “sweetheart.”

Ouch. Cuomo is a meme for killing nursing home residents, a la culling the elderly poor. I wonder how much State money Whitmer saved?

#BREAKING: Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand say Gov. Cuomo should resign, adding the most powerful Democratic voices yet to calls for the governor to leave office.

May be an image of 3 people and text that says '" "Governor Cuomo should resign." SENATE MAJORITY LEADER CHUCK SCHUMER AND SEN. KIRSTEN GILLIBRAND 13 "'

This article came out late yesterday I think, so the political pressure machine is on now. NY Dems have decided to eat one of their own. Cuomo’s getting fitted for his golden parachute via all this public blustering about “fighting” the charges. He’ll get away with 15K murders though.

Not all Democrats are ready to take off the knee pads just yet.

Stephanie Miner is no friend of Andrew Cuomo.

A onetime top Democratic official in New York and a former mayor of Syracuse, Ms. Miner has spent years criticizing the governor’s polarizing leadership style, even mounting a bid to unseat him in 2018. But as Mr. Cuomo fights for his job, facing growing calls by Democratic lawmakers to resign over allegations of groping and sexual harassment, Ms. Miner isn’t quite ready to push him out.

They’re fighting an uphill battle.

This is the scandal I care far more about. One year anniversary of the school lockdown and the culling of the elderly poor, mentally challenged and indigent in nursing and group homes.

“I’m looking at a [directive] from Andrew Cuomo dated March 25 that is ordering nursing homes to comply with the expedite receipt of resident from hospitals, if they are deemed appropriate to go into the nursing homes by the hospitals and they can not discriminate on the basis of COVID,” the caller explained.

It seems Cuomo killed people in homes for the disabled as well. But let’s talk about eating sausage.

Things are going downhill fast. I don’t think he will be able to wait till it dies down for the next front page news.

The ex-aide shared a text they received from a current staffer on Friday morning that read, “He has to resign now right? (I say for the 15th time this week).”

:runaway:

What did Chris know and when did he know it?

Another day, another load of box of broken bits from Cuomo’s broken machine is dumped on the table:

"In New York, we will not waver and will not back down. To Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and all survivors of sexual assault, we believe you and we will fight for you. The sham FBI investigation and the bigger sham, this confirmation process, have energized us to fight even harder for our shared vision for a better future for all.”
