The US used to be able to do it too, hence “election night”.
It also adds confidence because not enough time exists to start figuring out how many votes are needed to “win”. Like you say in Taiwan after voting stops, the result is known in a few hours and everyone goes to bed.
Some states need to take lessons from other states in terms of rules and technology, but I guess that is why we vote. If the people who live in those states keep voting for these folks to run their elections, then they are getting what they asked for.
If you wanna see something funny, watch Lindsey get all teary eyed as he whines about how the Dems were so cruel to Hershel. Freakin’ hilarious that the guy is so clueless about just how clueless Walker really is
It’s the mailed ballots postmarked on Election Day which need to be counted. Democratic voters tend to prefer that method which is why votes will swing from red to blue in the days after the polls close. Anything less would be voter suppression.
state rules vary, and even states strongly controlled by Republicans (like GA) may have dates after election day to receive ballots. Beyond that, there’s a curing period most (all? some?) states. And then in places like AZ, they process the mail ons manually, so is gonna be slower than places that use auto extractors. All that and races (in populated areas) have always taken a while to finalize, it’s just more of an issue with close.racea where you can’t call it earlier due.to a blow out.
Right, and I saw an article today about the GOP needing to learn to bend a multitude of confusing interstate rules. That’s what the brains thought they should do. Not improve the system. Just fuck with it even more.
