If you try to enter a TRA station with an easycard that has a T Pass on it, it will not let you in instead telling you to talk to a ticket agent.
It doesn’t care if there’s stored value on it. I had 5nt on mine and when I tried to enter it would tell you to go see a ticket agent, and it only lets you in if you use the special T Pass gate.
Yea I don’t know who came up with this shit.
Basically to go one station outside of the T pass zone, you have to leave the last station with the T pass, then use a separate card with value on it to reenter the station, then continue your journey. You cannot enter any TRA station at a normal ticket gate if that card has a T Pass on it at all.
Well then it is pretty weird that they don’t let you use your T-Pass card as a normal EasyCard. That can’t be right.
Maybe you’re supposed to enter the T-Pass gate either way, and it will still deduct the fare when you exit.
Anyway, we don’t even have this first-world problem down here in Kaohsiung. We can only buy dedicated T-Pass cards or use the app. We don’t get combo cards.
I’m not sure, I don’t have the monthly pass and am loath to carefully read the whingeing above to figure out what problem TL is having with it. It looks like he’s trying to do something with it he’s not supposed to be doing, for which the obvious solution is to get a second card.
The dedicated gate thing does seem stupid though. I would have thought they’d just implement it like a regular card.
If what TL is saying is correct (emphasis on “if”), it seems like adding the T-Pass makes it not a combo card either…
T-Pass can be purchased to any Easy Card. Super Card is just an Easy Card which can communicate with a smartphone and one can use Easy Wallet to top it up or purchase T-Pass without going to a store/station.
The T-Pass branded Easy Cards are just an Easy Card with a specific picture on it. They are not special in any way.
I know, which is why it’s weird that according to @Taiwan_Luthiers the TRA doesn’t allow you to use your EasyCard (with T-Pass) as a regular EasyCard, to pay for trains going outside of your region.
Yes , if you local from Taichung and you don’t use electric bicycles often, don’t ride mrt and take short bus rides , it’s not worth to buy . I believe those people just drive scooters since the city is heavily populated by them .
I know quite a bit of people who benefited from the regional passes , me included. So , I would disagree that it’s useless .
For the future , I hope they’ll make that you can top up tpass by yourself at the machine , use any gates, and if you go beyond the free station you just pay the difference without needing to leave the station .
Wait a second, what does “cannot be used as an Easy Card” mean?
I buy stuff at the supermarket/conveniencevstore and pay for coffee/meals at food courts or fast food places with my Easy Card, aside from having the monthly ticket.
Does having the new pass mean I cannot use my Easy Card as value added card? I was thinking of just purchasing the Tpass to be put in the Easy Card.
Correct me if I’m wrong , but apparently in Taichung tpass works from 1st to 1st. I bought the tpass on July 4th , but on monitor it says it will expire on August 1st .
Yes you can, you’re just limited to local trains or express trains without reserved seats. I’ve gone from Taipei to Jiayi on an easy card on a local train before.
