Now if only they could make it obvious.
Bullshit excuse.
They had more than a year to make the necessary changes. All it needs is a software update. Plus the agreement is likely made more than a year prior.
Unless their hardware is so ancient it couldnât be updated or needs special setup. This points to organizational issue.
Seems theyâre expecting a bump in sales over the weekend.
So far no one I know has bought the regional or city pass in TaichungâŚeven with the NT$199 price for the early bird special price for the city pass.
Because Taichung regional/city pass is useless.
For one thing they have the free 10km ride for Taichung resident (means your HHR must be in Taichung), so thatâs kinda one reason for people to not want one, and so only one who will buy it is if their HHR is not in Taichung, or foreigners.
That and also public transportation is crap in Taichung to be honest with you. Unless you are taking the train daily, you are wasting money.
I love when people say stuff like that, as if software is automatically easy and trivial.
Sure, but⌠come on, that special entrance/exit gate is bizarre. The passengers just bought a monthly public transport ticket, why are the organizers making it look like they won a prestigious competition?
Software is developed and is likely done centrally. Seriously it shouldnât take this long to do. Theyâve had over a year to do it. Everyone else got it done.
Yea thatâs going to cause a traffic jam during rush hour
So why do Taichung and Gaoxiong get to be merged with their counties but Taipei and new Taipei have to be seperate creating some farcical impression that Taipei is only the 4th largest city of Taiwan?
I donât know why new Taipei city is even a thing too, why not absorb the entire region into just Taipei? Maybe because of political seats?
Seems TRA will eventually be updated so all ticket gates can be used. No word on when Taichung or Taoyuan MRT T-pass users will be able to use all gates.
TPass holders may use all gates on the Taipei and Kaohsiung MRT networks, as they have already been designed to accommodate monthly passes, Wang said.
Commuters on the TRA and Taichung and Taoyuan MRT systems must use dedicated lanes for now, he said, adding that the TRA aims to accommodate TPass at all gates by the end of the year.
Maybe Taipei residents didnât want to be associated with the surrounding old Taipei county. I know I wouldnât want that. ![]()
If you buy all three passes, does that cover all travel on bus, TRA and MRT the entire island?
Us xinbei residents donât want to be associated with wanhua either!
I have to wonder that. the problem is you have to enter and exit at the end of each passâs area, and reenter at the new area. Itâs a serious pain and I wonder if anyone ever thought about this.
I suspect this is a complete afterthought and they still want you to buy tickets on express trains, as the seat itself would have cost extra.
Not to mention if you sailed through the entire 3 regions on say a Tzh Chang train, you would have to get a fare adjustment and pay the ticket cost for the entire journey, as your easy card wouldnât let you exit the station otherwise.
I blame the TRAâs craptastic organizational ability. In case you wonder how I know, I asked the station staff at the Keelung train station and they said this. Iâd have to exit the station at the last station allowed by the TPASS and then reenter using another Easy Card (as you canât enter the station at a regular gate on the TPASS enabled Easy Card).
Anyone know if you can load it onto a existing credit / debit that has EasyCard functionality? Also can you purchase it at the top-up machines or you must go to the counter every month to purchase and renew it?
I donât understand the purpose of these specific TPASS branded cards, are they just normal cards that you can load value onto but branded differently? or do they only work as TPASS?
I saw that it was mentioned you can buy the pass through EasyWallet, but it seems only if you have âSuperCardâ which again is something I am not familiar with and I would rather load it onto one of my bank credit/debit cards as I donât want another additional card to carry around.
It seems that EasyWallet can use NFC on Android to make transit payments but again TPASS doesnât seem to be usable with that either.
EasyWallet to me is a complete mess, does anyone use it and find it useful?
No, youâd have to exit at the last stop in your region, then take a taxi to the next stop in the next county, and then re-enter.
Iâm sure they have. Youâre not meant to ride across regions on the T-Pass, which is why they made it a pain.
You have to buy the supercard separately either from a MRT station or from Momo (for a while the MRT stations donât even know what it is)
Looks like this, if it doesnât it will have that supercard logo.
So what happens if you need to go just one stop past your TPASS stop? Not daily but for a one time visit?
I guess they didnât think anyone would do thatâŚ
You would need a second easy card just to do that.
Itâs fucking dumb.
If your T-Pass and your stored-value EasyCard is the same card, then you can just use that.
If your T-Pass is a separate card from your EasyCard, then you would need a second card anyway, right? For purchases at 7-11, etc.
