Typhoons 2019?

was it a “Dear John” letter, and both of you were dating her at the same time?

Docking them vacation days or sick leave days. This happens in the US, too. Not at all uncommon.

Ibis is weeping gently …

Basically…some post office employee had a scam going about tax receipts from lottery winnings. So he was using some other foreigners name in the district to file under his name and collect the money or something . But then they couldn’t find his other foreign guy (prob never existed), but I certainly did exist , so the local post office conveniently started sending the tax claims to me. I told them to royally piss off. Of course the employee who was running the scam had resigned months before.

Always knew there was something fishy about you  and the golf pro

Any update on the kinds of cats and dogs? Any Siamese or Samoyeds, for example?

Well around 5pm Bobby and I decided to go to the park. There were gusts of wind that did not seem that strong…until a moment where we had to take shelter behind a bank pillar…behind us two guys in a scooter hanging on for dear life and an amah in another who was not as lucky and ended up bouncing off a bunch of parked scooters. The guys helped her up…once the wind gave them a chance.

Yet the people were out and about. There was this tight group of tourists at the light, a girl among them complained of the debris hitting her legs - she was wearing shorts. Well, if you don’t like, you can go back to the hotel, said the eldest guy, looked like her father. They were headed for the mall.

Around 6ish we had a bit of rain and a touch of wind… 7 looked clear. Now it is raining that annoying cat hair clingy drizzle.

You’re being sarcastic? Are you talking about Taiwan? Where employers fire employees who get sick, scalp their pay and get away with their pension funds, not to mention the routinely sending them on unpaid vacations?

Yep, that deserves some of the 20 threads we have on that already.

Poor amah.
Went for a walk because the forecast looked okay. It was a nice wind for a while, until it picked up and the trees starting swishing around a tad violently.

Nope, totally serious. The business I know is almost paralyzed by unions, frivolous labor claims, conflicting laws on labor and taxes, and a government that’s up its ass. It’s hard to grow the business in this environment. But then again, I’m an American who has lived in the PRC and Singapore, so I’m used to standards more conducive to economic growth and prosperity.

Torrential downpour in Taichung :runaway:

Bone dry, clear skies and hardly any wind in Sanxia.

Hopefully, it will be like this tomorrow too…

That is so weird…unless it is a foreign owned business. Because AFAIK unions are either non allowed or in the boss pocket. And Heck if business here is regulated at all, see what they get away with: dumping cancer toxins for decades, pollution, absconding with earnings and pensions, and selling substandard food products with barely a slap.

I’ll tell you about my own job but they are looking for fresh meat…again.

Clear skies up North and very high temperatures.

In the meantime, down from Taichung down South there is a lot of rain from south western wind with potential floods due to soil being loose from the quake.

Enjoy.

the tables will turn young lady :howyoudoin:

It is a publicly traded US company.

There are different labor laws and enforcement for companies from different countries?

Yeah, it’s called the law of the land. And I am not kidding.

Remember when the union reps from a US division of one of the largest Taiwanese corporations came to Taiwan to protest and file charges against the company because of labor law violations …and they were, ehem, escorted out promptly from the Island?

Google maps now has typhoon info.
