Some may call it karma. With an evil grin.
True. I remember 1800 mm over 48 hours once in Yilan, back in 2007-2008 maybe.
Of course, Yilan flooded to about 1800 mm for a week. But Taipei was fine
I live pretty close to where the flooding was on zhongxiao east and I was told the exact same thing. Wild, but definitely fixable. Guess we will see soon if things have been improvedâŚ
well, they are having unusually heavy rains as part of their seasonal rainy season, and typhoons donât go that far inland, so maybe thereâs a grain of truth in that.
China needs to get its shit together and close all their coal fired power plants.
Itâs all rice paddies, they need water.
Well theyâre about to get it.
Yeah⌠YMS is behind a veil (of rain?) again
It switched to a typhoon! Maybe we will get a typhoon day!
Apparently, if your company divides workers into different groups to work from home in alternate turns, when you are working from home, you donât get a typhoon day, however if you are supposed to be in the office for that day, then you would get a typhoon dayâŚ
Odd rules.
Yeah, some friends were talking about this. No day off if you are wfh.
No difference for me as Iâve been in the office since June.
That is odd. Itâs almost like they donât intend typhoon days to be a free holiday for employees, but rather some kind of âtyphoon dayâ so that people donât need to commute to work in a typhoon. Weird!
Itâs odd because those who were supposed to be in the office could also just work from home. Either everyone gets a typhoon day, or everyone has to work from home.
Sorry, itâs not gonne happen with this one.
Itâs path is moving upward from yesterday, due to the various developing pressure systems.
We will get some nasty gusts (specially when itâs moving further away), the usual heavy rain, but nothing out of the ordinary.
Yeah, surprising actually that they donât just force everyone to work from home. But if they go that route, bad luck for those employees in the future who donât get typhoon days anymore!
For most people typhoon days are unpaid anyway.
I can take unpaid day offs any time. Donât need a typhoon to wreck my free time doing so.
Like youâve said before, the point of a typhoon day is so that people donât need to commute to work in a typhoon. I would be fine if thatâs how it goes in the future. If a work place or a specific job canât operate without people physically being there, then I understand why a typhoon day is needed, however, those companies thatâre doing alternate WFH groups obviously have the ability to allow people to WFH, they just insist on forcing more than half of the people being in the office due to⌠whatever psychological reasons that the bosses have.
Yes, Iâm seeing a big difference in the trajectory now compared to earlier this morning. Definitely more northward.
Itâs so not happening

So Windy made the more accurate prediction way earlier than most government agenciesâŚ
