Question for the scientists out there: can a typhoon form over Taiwan?
I see on tv it is already raining in Yunlin. Hope we get some wind and water up North too!
Taipei is still the hottest place in all Taiwan. ![]()
Stay away from Texas.
I know it doesn’t feel like much but it is coming from the West side which means we have no mountains to act as shield.
From friends down South I hear rain has been heavy, violent…but fades quickly.
It’s nice and wet down south for sure. A nice change of pace from the heat! Great time to leave the doors open and get some cool air!
Eh guys, crowds already wiping out veggies and instant noodles at the supermarket. I see locals carrying six packs of beer, very optimistic.
Seems most dangerous is tonight and tomorrow early morning. The typhoon has increased in strength.
Lots of flooding and damage in Taichung city. They really need a limpia down there.
I heard some rain this morning, but by the time I went out in the balcony the rain was stopped. Cowtown got it easy this time
Lots of flights already affected, delays and cancellations galore:

I do not like that limitation of “reaching the standard for cancellation of work/class” definition to “coastal areas” and “mountain areas”.
Saw the president and I think the premier at the Emergency Center a couple of hours ago. Seems to me this is building up to a strong storm.
Storms have brought as much, I’d dare to say even more damage than typhoons before.
Annoying drizzle in the hood but wind has picked up. Like hang to your umbrella with both hands. Saw one of the neighbors playing Spider woman getting her hanging planters down. Her balcony has no bars. Luckily for her, an ambulance was parked downstairs…and was not required for her…today.
My bad, did not see it. ![]()
They are forecasting - and I mean the CWA- winds of level 15. Wind expected to be that strong until tomorrow afternoon.
Wind already quite strong in New Taipei.
Please note that TRA and HSR will stop when the wind reaches a certain limit, which will be soon.
Drivers on highways are also reporting strong winds, please take notice.
I just lost power
Back!
There’s a likelihood of losing both power and -gasp!- Internet if the wind gets too strong. ![]()
What city?
