Uncle Tetsu's Cheesecake

Anyone had it before? Every time I walk by their shop inside Taipei Main, there’s a long line in front of it. The fact that it’s Japanese makes me a bit leery, and it doesn’t look all that tasty either. I’ll get in line next time if enough people here recommend it.

Somebody told me it isn’t all that special.

Can’t STAND that filthy stuff! Its not even cheesecake, far as I’m concerned. Cheesecake in my lexicon comes with a bottom crust made of crushed biscuits held together with melted butter, topped with a cheesy lemony topping, not that cake-like abomination in those pictures.

I never had it but that really isn’t cheesecake as you know it. It is a soft spongy like cake as you find it in 7 (you know the small round ones for 25NT)… they have a bit of cheesecake flavour… at least that’s what I know from various other cakes that look like that and that I actually tasted.

I thought Tetsuo had come back. :aiyo:

Well, then it’s either a special taste of the locals or herd mentality. I go by the place about once a week, and every single time I see a long line in front. They even cordon off an area just for the herd to line up in like a friggin amusement park ride.

So where’s a good place to get a good cheesecake in this town?

There is this awesome -IMHO- cheesecake place next to Longjiang Park, on Jinzhou street, close to Zhongshan High School MRT -Brown Line. Plain, caramel, peach, rum and raisins, whisky… you name it, they got it, but also sells out fast. Had the card somewhere with the Internet address for orders…

I just checked google earth. Is it the bakery on the corner right across the park called Bread First?

No, goodheaven’s, no. There should be an open cafe in the corner, and right next to it a cafe with a cherry tree and antiques for decoration. That’s the place. Facing the side of the park. I am talking about Western style cheesecake, proper cheesecake, no chain store machine spewed mechanically mixed run of the mill grub. I mean the real stuff. Trust me.

Found it! :discodance:

They sure look good. :lick: Thanks, Icon. Will have to give it a try someday.

No hay por donde. My favorite is the apple brandy one. Be sure to try it.

How about dukes cheesecake? I googled cheesecake and this was the most popular result.
