Uncouth Nation:Why Europe Dislikes America
If there is one reason to dislike America it’s for their constant “Anti-American” whining; I guess they need something to distract from the fact of another lost war which really seems to hurt the American ego, and whom better to point the finger at than Europeans?
Rascal -
I asked around on Sunday night…we don’t like you.

Everybody in America pretty much agreed on that.

I disagree with Rascal that we have “lost this war.”

I would agree that the incessant whining passive aggressiveness of most European nations and their citizens has caused America to kind of shut down when it hears these complaints. Think of a whining child who wants a toy and the parent is not fair and he or she will hate said parent forever and ever and x y and z has a better mother or father. OR think of aging parents who whine for attention regarding their aches. Naturally, as kin, one does care, but on the other hand, while one is willing to listen to show sympathy, one does not really concern oneself with the accuracy or relevance of the plaintive complainer. No? Most of the West has made itself supremely irrelevant. That much is clear. Does it therefore follow that the voices of their citizens are somehow more important or relevant? I don’t think so. To tell the truth, after four years of hearing every accusation and allegation under the sun, I no longer care. I no longer want to know what Europeans “think” about the US and its policies. If I am asked to justify them, I will. Otherwise, I just announce that I beg to agree to disagree, but no, I do not want to hear the latest dinner party rage. Keep it to yourself. Sign me bored to stupefaction.

Woo! All this spin is making me dizzy!

europeans do not like america.

the taliban is an enemy of america

ergo, europeans and the taliban are the same.

and so is everyone else who is not american…

"if you are not with us, you’re agin us. " now who said that?

Now if they all could agree to get rid of Bush … :Europe: :America:

Who would have thought that!?
I guess not having a sense of humor helps the hate too.
How do you like my sense of humor when I repeat Bush is a liar.
America not the land of dreams? Really? Tell that to all the new billionaires.
Trying to be funny again…I definitely do not share your sense of humor

People, Problems, Issues
There are at least 91,000 homeless people each night in Los Angeles County. About 15-20,000 homeless people live on “Skid Row”. This is a ten square block area at the center of downtown Los Angeles. At any given time at least half the homeless population literally sleeps on the streets. The average age of homeless person is around 40 years old. One third to one half of the homeless population is women and girls.
Do you know they use bulldozers to make them go away ? Land of dreams of land of nightmare ?

And I am sorry that you don’t feel good about America as you did when you were young. Perhaps one of these days, we can come save you again and that will restore your admiration for us.
Funny how your sense of humor is still not working. I d prefer to commit suicide than being saved by someone like you . Really, don t bother for me, I ll be fine thank you.
Or, let me think as I m pretty sure you would not be among the fighters, then maybe… to be saved by a nice cowboy (like in the western films I loved as a child)…

Now to be fair, not all is that bad in america but not all is that good. This is true for every country

when you think how much of a seriously forked place the world is, maybe it’s good they hate us.

Twenty one killed at Virginia Tech.

Is this YOUR sense of humor? I don’t get it. But then again…Jerry Lewis.

He is American you know?

But then again look at Niagra falls. Looks like your falls need a little viagra or something. You could change the name to Viagra but Falls anyway.

He is American you know?
Yeah, but we don’t think he’s funny.

Oh… :s

Usually the most anti-Americanism rhetoric I hear is from our colonies. This is perplexing because in one breathe their spewing their displeasure for everything American and in the other they are voting back in (technically their parties) Blair (Bush’s lapdog), Howard (deputy sheriff) and Canada has just elected Harper (our new shoeshine boy). All three elections took place after the Iraq invasion and supposable at the height of their angst.

How can you take these people serious when they don’t even take themselves that serious?

People vote thinking of their wallet not on principles or beliefs

I will be interested to see how the Irish general election turns out.

In Ireland there has been extraordinary rendition, US troops and airplanes stopping over on their way to Iraq, weapons on their way to Israel.

But the topics that will dictate the outcome of this election are the nurses looking for a 10% salary increase because they think they deserve it, certain payments and money the PM (Taoiseach) said he never got, and the drinking water in Galway. The you got crime, tax, education etc.
People are below in the pub complaining alright, but this is how far it goes

ralphy, the Bush administration and poor dress sense is hardly “Everything American.”
Other than that, TNT has it right. Voters don’t give a fuck about foreign policy – not their own, CERTAINLY not America’s. Just like American voters, in fact. Now there’s a surprise, eh?

Deputy Sheriff sounds all right. Better than “Bush’s Poodle” which sounds like… er… anyway. The best thing is probably that England becomes a colony of Australia. Hang on, we have a chap on the line called Gazza calling from SW5 who says that’s already the case…

And vice versa.

I don’t think many Europeans give a shit until it’s mentioned by an American. After all, it is usually only Americans like TC who bring this kind of subject up, right? Because Europeans certainly don’t seem to voluntarily start topics like this.

Agree, as far as the EU goes.

Totally disagree, but that’s just my opinion.

As far as I’m aware, all European countries maintain their culture. Most American culture is just regurgitated and re-packaged European crap.
Although I am a fan of American 50’s and 60’s art decor.

The US saved France? Someone really needs a history lesson.
It’s every-day comments like these that don’t help America’s cause.

Believe it or not I’m pretty impartial about America. To me, it’s just another country. I wouldn’t want to live there, but then again, I wouldn’t want to live in Germany or go back to the UK.
Unfortunately though, all the threads here on F.com are usually sickly threads about how great the US is, or on how everybody hates the US; or how the US is doing such a great job in Iraq. I guess this reinforces any dislike I do have for the US because the attitudes just get my back up.

So many penis enlargement offers sent as spam to millions of email accounts every day and you still cannot find the necessary “confidence” to let this go? Back up? Indeed…

Yet again, snide comments from an over-bloated, ego-centric, stereotypical fat American. You do nothing for the image of your country-people.
