That’s so sad. Support women’s right. Support their right to carry.
The gun control that could have been…
The NRA see it coming. Our legislators beholden to the NRA know it’s coming. On a daily basis. And are obstructing any efforts at sensible gun legistlation to stop it. Certain posters are so far gone that even on a day of national sadness and mourning for victims of gun violence, cannot help but indulge themselve in another round of invective towards Democrats.
Look how desensitized to the idea of violence as a way of problem solving some people have become, two mass killings in one day and hours later back to snarking online. As if shooting people in mass is just a thing in our reality now.
You would not make that comment if the family of those women killed were around.
Whatever claim to moral or intellectual ascendancy the ground anti-gun control crowd try to claim is completely lost when a mass killing occurs and they’re snarking about net articles minutes later. This is the hate that internet hate made.
Not too many and they tend to shoot each other .
Carrying guns doesn’t help all the gangbangers either who get shot every year in Chicago.
I’m not sure why you are making a joke of this but feeling sorry for the folks in Texas ?
Future of USA and the planet is inevitably and unavoidably controlled by weaponry! But ruled by Putin with his 6800+ nuclear warheads!
Joke of what?
Two innocent women dying in Chicago.
Tell me where I joked. Use the quote function to be clear.
The tone of this is off.
In what way? I don’t think a person on here would think I don’t find the right to carry a right for women. And that I think gun rights are a joke.
What comes first? The decision to kill or the weapon of choice?
They should have gun control in Chicago. That would fix it.
Tackling the real problem: gun free zones
The NRA is influential because the Second Amendment is popular.
It’s not the other way around.
I don’t know how this is overlooked in public discourse so easily.
-
Have pre-checks for mental fitness, in addition to making sure people classified as mentally ill cannot obtain guns (Obama legislation rolled back by Trump, even though Trump now claims it’s a main cause of this violence).
-
Make things universal. From what I understand, there are different bars for obtaining guns at stores vs shows.
-
Get rid of the fully-auto stuff
Prove you’re responsible, prevent those irresponsible, have the same high standards to buy everywhere, get rid of stuff that can kill a lot of people fast.
See, nobody disagrees that people with mental illnesses shouldn’t be owning guns but then you go off and inject things that simply are not true.
What you’re calling a piece of “Obama legislation” was an Executive Action signed on the way out the door (it took effect two days before he left office) to both fight off criticism that he hadn’t done anything about gun violence in eight years and as a piece of garbage that he knew Trump would toss out the moment he was in office. It’s the equivalent of the outgoing manager promising ponies for everybody then walking out the door to leave the new guy to explain that it simply isn’t happening.
The ACLU and virtually everybody else with a stake in the game opposed the Action and supported the repeal.
I think this is a good idea. However, do you provide exceptions if a friend wants to sell a gun to somebody else? What if a father wants to give a gun to his son? Previously proposed legislation would have essentially banned both practices.
Fully automatic weapons have been illegal since 1934. Perhaps it wasn’t reported on Maddow and people missed it.
