What is a place in Taiwan that is very quiet?
I plan to write a book and I find it very difficult with the noise pollution.
One of the smaller islands should work.

Taitung is quite nice. Dramatic sea, dramatic mountains, dramatic heat and dramatic typhoons. Reminds me of home…

It’s not all quiet though .
Penghu islands are very quiet in parts.
Matsu too, but very isolated.
Parts of Nantou would be good too outside the towns.

I would definitely choose somewhere in Alishan, might be some dogs barking though. What will you be writing?
To perhaps be too negative: is this possible in Taiwan? Scooters are everywhere - and that means noise pollution.
Sometimes you can find places off the main roads that are very quiet. Have to be outside the country towns.

Indeed. Many places in the countryside are generally quiet. My mate used to live in a house surrounded by rice paddies. It was silent at night, other than the frogs. They might be an issue for the OP.

The hills and mountains away from cities. Lots and lots of peaceful places. And views. Misty mountains.

I live in Danshui and it’s pretty silent. Especially at night.

Huh. Mildly surprised (and envious!). Our place isn’t bad, but if I keep the windows open at night, it’s pretty much guaranteed a scooter’s going to wake me up at some point.
I live in Newtown so, any building on a side street is gonna be quiet.
