Why start a war with Taiwan ?
It’s a pretty costly and risky way to get people to think about something else, especially when they already control the media. War isn’t popular and a war would be very unpopular
Im not saying they don’t want to start a war, but the connection to the economy is spurious
I think China economy is bad, but it’s not terminal. They are facing a very significant stagnation but things like EV, they are set to dominate

No it won’t turn around the economy but it is going to be a big deal. The china EV wave is coming and companies like BYD are going to flood markets with decent quality 10k USD electric vehicles pretty soon
Decent at 10k would be very difficult.
nevertheless I wish we could have some joint ventures with these companies in Taiwan so we could have affordable clean electric cars here, seen them all over Asia and some of them are really nice. Right now we are stuck with polluting cars here.
The EU is going to put tariffs on them, also think it could be counterproductive because people need cheaper electric cars there too.
They don’t want to encourage people to buy cars.

The EU is protecting German automotive industry as everyone is freaking out. This is a tipping point and could be extremely destructive.
Recommend listening to this podcast i mentioned before on China’s semiconductor breakthrough. They talk about this at the end. Companies like BYD are going to be able to design and make their own semiconductors soon and achieve something that carmakers never had before, which is complete vertical integration, which is why they will be able to get pricing down.
The EU probe is about anti-subisidies, but they mention in the podcast, this isn’t the main reason why Chinese are cheap and good. Even without subsidies, they are going to be way undercutting the market. The EU is blatantly protecting Germany. Its classic protectionism, which I support in this case, but lets call a spade a spade.
The one thing the mentioned as well is that its a conundrum, because countries are supposed to be bringing down emissions, and and at the same time blocking Chinese EV and Solar pannels, that are cheap enough to get quick uptake.
But I’m supportive of the Europe and the US not playing fair with China, because they dont play fair with us. Its a huge opportunity for Taiwan, and Foxconn I think, because if the auto manufacturers cant get the pricing down, they will eventually need to turn to Foxconn.
Nobody can cost-down like Taiwanese. Its deep in their blood. They are the cheapest fucking people on the whole planet. In this case, I sincerely believe that ‘Taiwan Can Help’
If anyone doesnt know, Foxconn have invested heavily in EV building. They have built a whole supply chain and acquired lots of companies across the world doing batteries and different parts of EV supply chain. They are trying to recruit a major auto-maker to partner with, but still havent found, as they all want to go it alone.
They have a few small cases now
But they still need to land a biggie, or all this investment has gone in vain
probably end up working with the Japanese who are way behind…
