I’m guessing he was made an example of. Anyone with half a brain understands Chinas path to being a superpower as an economic powerhouse is hampered by Xis dogma and ambitions. Trying to start political fights with your best customers and investors and even neighbors is bad for business :man_shrugging:

There is also the underground Catholic Church. I’ve met priests in Taiwan who’ve visited such churches in China.

Obviously I am speaking in regards to official acts within the legal framework of the PRC.

All teachers and public sector employees were told to hand in our passports.
If we want to travel abroad, we have to apply to the city education bureau and I don’t think it will be approved.

Yeah the US does the same, even Taiwan does the same. DOESN’T make it right of course.

In the US it’s written into the constitution. Slavery is allowed as a punishment for crimes.
