Yes Taiwans culture of not admitting fault to save face comes from China. Seems they are a notch higher on the crazy scale but still, same bullshit.
Quite funny how simplified characters get get such an irrational response of dislike though. They are just that ugly!

That journal looks to be pretty much entirely staffed by Chinese academics and I’m not sure how much English editing gets done, but I would have expected that to be removed nonetheless.
It was kind of unavoidable if using an abbreviation though, and “CNTs” (for carbon) is already very well established. It looks to be not the first time this has been used either — see the one below from 2007.
And Chemical Communications is a real journal, probably in the top couple of dozen chemistry journals globally, where I believe everything gets properly edited… and this either slipped through or the editors were in the end fine with it (I suspect it was probably the latter, because it’s quite noticeable).

I hate zoos. That said. I would go to this zoo just to see this. In fact, I think if there were a zoo with animals, maybe just dogs, dressed as other animals, I’d go to that.
