That’s amazing lol.
Chimei Medical Center Department of Psychiatry doctor Kao Pei-hsin (高霈馨) said “cramming excessive numbers of people into a closed space with poor ventilation might induce panic attacks.”
That’s what we pay those docs for!

1/ 🚨🇨🇳HappeningNow: China’s police are cracking down on #Halloween with unexpected intensity: streets in Shanghai packed with police cars, human barricades of police, road barriers…Anyone in costume is immediately arrested, forced to remove makeup or even clothes.

But why? pic.twitter.com/vkmo8jlhxM

Because it’s a foreign holiday introduced from outside. Expect the same at Christmas.
I lived in England when Halloween was just taking off, and older people would grumble about American influences pushing out Guy Fawkes Day. There is apparently some of the same complaints in Mexico about Yankee Halloween customs replacing traditional Day of the Dead celebrations.
XJP keeps trying to remove foreign influences, that won’t work with Halloween I think
.
Isn’t this all a bit premature? Today is the 26th
Since actual Halloween falls on a Thursday this year, they NEED to do it now. So, stupid.
Happens in Taiwan, too. All Halloween related activities for schools and bushibans fall on the weekend so as to maximize the marketability of this non-Taiwanese activity.
Since those days, I have gotten over it. ![]()
Guy
Yes, it’s all this weekend. I’m going to hear some death metal tonight. There are many options I could choose from.
I’d rather celebrate ghosts and goblins than a religious fanatic plotting a terrorist attack to blow up the government and commit mass murder (even if it is just politicians), thank you.

Maybe they should look into
Guy Fawkes Day

Didn’t bother that bigoted government in the slightest to order mass murders at home or abroad at the time . And slaves why not!

You lived in pre Celtic Britain?
My annual reference as to why there is no celebration of Guy Fawkes Day in Anerica.
Letter from George Washington to his troops banning the practice in his army
As the Commander in Chief has been apprized of a design form’d for the observance of that ridiculous and childish custom of burning the Effigy of the popeHe cannot help expressing his surprise that there should be Officers and Soldiers in this army so void of common sense, as not to see the impropriety of such a step at this Juncture; at a Time when we are solliciting, and have really obtain’d, the friendship and alliance of the people of Canada, whom we ought to consider as Brethren embarked in the same Cause. The defence of the general Liberty of America: At such a juncture, and in such Circumstances, to be insulting their Religion, is so monstrous, as not to be suffered or excused; indeed instead of offering the most remote insult, it is our duty to address public thanks to these our Brethren, as to them we are so much indebted for every late happy Success over the common Enemy in Canada.
Canada at that time meaning the French Catholic inhabitants of Quebec.
Halloween was at hand, as a celebration mostly followed by German, Scottishn and Irish settlers (another of the many great contributions to America brought by immigrants).

We celebrate the fact that it failed and he was put to death for his actions, he was hanged drawn and quartered, and ceremoniously gets burned each year on the bonfire.
That wasnt a documentary
That wasnt a documentary
Yeah, but some valid points about politicians etc. in there too lol.
I wasn’t talking about the movie, I was talking about the fans.
Au conraire, there are many who unironically celebrate him as an icon rebel anarchy.
Thats taken from an alternate history novel, just showing some people don’t know fact from fiction.
It was band and reinstated and meaning twisted on numerous times due to changing Protestant and Catholic monarchy, celebrating it became an act of rebellion in some parts. Some people would Burn effigies of the Devil, of the Pope or Guy depending what side you was on or who was looking over your shoulder. All in all it’s just an excuse for a bit of mayhem and gangs would go out to settle a few scores, Protestant v Catholic but in reality it was normal local scores that got settled.
I think burning straw men is prehistoric too.
People being misrepresenting people in order to shoot them down loooong before forumosa got established.
