Where is this? What caused it to fail? It’s gotta be an earthquake, or did the government deem the steel reinforcement enough for continued habitation? I wouldn’t want to be there for the next big one.
That the concrete cracked like this tells me rebars have stretched, and is a warning to do something, and I’m guessing the steel beam is their answer.
So it was caused by a truck?
Presumably they jacked the support column up as the picture shown and redid the column? I think that is an acceptable repair as long as the rebar is properly tied into the main structure.
Gotta feel sorry for those living in apartment buildings with neighbors who are super uncooperative. My brother-in-law cannot fix his apartment building’s door bell/door opener. He lives on third floor of four floor building. The guy who lives on first floor and who owns an apartment on the second floor (which is rented out) refuses to allow workers to run the wires through his apartments. He says he is okay with no door bell and having to walk to the front door to let people inside the building. He simply will not cooperative with the other tenants. So a guy on fourth floor has run a seperate wire down to the front door bell area and installed his own personal door bell…he cannot open the door but can at least be informed someone is at the front gate.
This same brother-in-law owns another apartment in another building which he rents out. Same problem. The front door bell/door opener does not work. A guy on third floor does not want to fix. My brother-in-law has submitted 3 vendor quotes for replacing the broken equipment…ranging from NT$8,000 to $20,000. The third floor guy accuses my brother-in-law of submitting a high price so he can get a commission from the vendor. He claims he is also in construction industry so knows the quotes are way too high. However, he will not find a vendor and just refuses to fix. So my brother-in-law cannot fix the door to help his rentors.
I forgot to mention that this uncooperative guy has built an office using 3 parking spaces of the 8 available spaces for this building. Obviously an illegal structure which also juts out right to edge of street which he then puts big potted plants in front to prevent anyone from parking in front of his office.
So these are actually two venues in close proximity in one of the oldest parts of town near the cinema and Chikan temple.
The first one with the ‘no tadpoles’ sign is actually a fairly swanky Chinese restaurant and wine bar. There was a very expensive Merc parked just outside it. For sure the owner/manager , a lady, must have some interesting stories and well, interesting customers.
Looking at the photos of the food is making me hungry and nice decor, looks great.
Big Long was around the corner and looked like an abandoned ruin. I was shocked when another poster mentioned there was actually a bar somewhere in there.
“ Representatives from the Pingtung County branches of the Democratic Progressive Party, Kuomintang, and Taiwan People’s Party were present to pay their respects. “
I think it is wack, but in Taiwan everything is possible….
