Yes. We used to have happy hours, and family camping trips. They were fun because sub groups could join together. Bikers, motorcyclers, divers, musicians, random posters. God that was a fun time. Little kids running around the place. Faces and names galore.

The only things I will add are 1) it was not created as a pejorative. 2) I imagine the earliest records of its use were in the holiest of holies, The Temp Forum, where much good stuff goes.
