No doubt.
Literally Just 11 Ridiculous Things That Happen In "The Snowman"
There are bad movies, and then there's The Snowman. (WARNING: This piece includes spoilers, but none about who the murderer is — you'll have to google that yourself.)
No doubt.
Thought it was over the top with the eroticism. Hell in the middle of a sex scene I felt like they had switched their dialogist with a porn scriptwriter. Otherwise the movie is great.
Agree with you on 11.22.63. Mr Mercedes trilogy was not bad.
Just watched ‘Blue Valentine.’ Don’t watch it, unless you like feeling shattered at the end. Especially if you’re a Dad.
Wonder if Shakira movie out in Taiwan now any good.
After watching the first two episodes of the Handmaid’s Tale, I have to say it’s a big improvement over the book. The screenplay spices up what was a rather bleak, dry story, the cinematography is gorgeous (really top notch), and Elizabeth Moss is excellent in the main role. I was pleasantly surprised. If you feel inclined to read the book, don’t bother.
I haven’t seen it, but I heard there’s a huge drop off in quality with the second season. One of those first season wonders…
EDIT: Wait, are you guys getting confused? Handmaid Tales is a TV show, not a movie. I don’t think you’re talking about the same thing.
And apparently, there’s a further drop off in quality in the 3rd season. Oh well…at least I can enjoy Season 1.
Eh, I just don’t bother with shows if I hear it sucks after season 1.
Except anthology shows like ‘True Detective’ as the later seasons are unrelated anyway.
I could finish watching Season 1 for the cinematography alone. We’ll see after that.
Yeah, 100%. The book The Handmaiden was based on is called Fingersnaps or Fingersmith or something. There’s also an old classic Korean movie called The Housemaid that it gets confused with sometimes.
Suede: The Insatiable Ones, 鹿皮:永不滿足 (Buckskin: Never satisfied)
Saw this movie at the theater because nothing else interesting.
Fascinating documentary and a good movie for anyone in a starter band or just interested in music.
I don’t really know Suede but the music is good and stands on its own. I guess they’re considered one of the top UK bands of their time along with Oasis and others. Kind of recognize Beautiful Ones rif. Good musicians and some damn good guitar band early on.
I read the book after the movie. Found the book better. What did you not like about it? IJA
That’s a good one.
2017 The Snowman with Michael Fassbender . It’s on Netflix now
I was lost within 20 mins and felt I was wondering around the North Face in a blizzard by 1 hour in.
It’s saving grace is the stunning cinematic backdrop of Norway itself. If you like snow you may still like this one . Watch out for poor Val Kilmer’s sporadic appearances. Did I mention it’s gory? It’s gory.
Try watching the movie and then read this .

That ending is shattering.
It reminds me a bit of ‘Insomnia’, that film in which Pacino is a cop in Alaska chasing after Robin Williams (uncharacteristically playing a serial killer), which also has some great snowy scenes in it.
Except ‘Insomnia’ is better, of course.

Such a good movie. And it weirded me out years later when I “first heard of” Christopher Nolan with the Batman films, and discovered I’d already seen and liked some of his stuff. Like when you watch an old movie or TV show that you’ve always liked, and suddenly there’s a young Philip Seymour Hoffman in the background or something. “Wait, he wasn’t there before!”
Have you seen ‘Memento’? It’s my favorite Nolan film and one of his first.

Yup: liked it a lot. But I went back and watched that one after “first learning” about Nolan from Batman.
