What movies are you watching (2023)

Which part?

Toy Story 4. I think I liked it. I’m gonna watch it a few more times to decide. The Canadian stuntman was hilarious.

It did well at Cannes

Actually it looks pretty good from the trailer, usually that sort of thing isn’t my cup of tea. The only thing that stands out is the female lead is quite unattractive

Pretty impressive for Johnny to do the whole thing in French

It didn’t.

The whole part.

It’s much better than the trailer leads to believe and as good or better than many of those types of movies in that time period.

Wasn’t there a long standing ovation?

Sounds like you’re responding emotionally without actually having seen it or knowing anything about it except the fact Depp is in it and you don’t like him.

At these film festivals a 5 minute standing ovation is a snub.

It’s got really terrible reviews.

Here’s one to note: Wan-Ching Ke’s The Lost Youth: Women and Industrial Work in Taiwan. It’s about the participation of thousands of Taiwanese women in Taiwan’s export processing zones including those working in Kaohsiung. First released in 2008, this film has now been digitally remastered. Some interesting clips of it are here in this report from Taiwan Plus:

I’d go watch this film in a flash.

Guy

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar

Acting, directing, author, very high credentials but still I don’t know…6/10

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt16968450/?ref_=ext_shr

UGH, ruined one of my favorite stories ever. I was very sceptical when I saw the news they were making this film. I found it pretentious soulless and not clever at all. It got names wrong, money amounts wrong and inconsistent and omitted key scenes and missed truly original shots that could have caught the soul of the story. UGH!

4 Roald Dahl short film adaptations by Wes Anderson on Netflix.

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar
The Swan
The Rat Catcher
Poison

I’ve watched two of these and find them quite irritating and not entertaining.

Run Lola Run

7/10

Really good German movie, much better than it looks, supposedly one of their best.

Something The Lord Made

7/10, good period flick based on true story, presented well, a bit predictable and stereotypical about stereotypes.

I just watched “The Adjustment Bureau.” With all the shit going on in the world the last few years, maybe it’s time for a reset. lol

That’s such a cute and fun movie, I’m a closet romantic and PK Dick is always a good yarn

The latest must-watch thriller on Netflix is Reptile , a cold-blooded whodunnit that has been called “endlessly fascinating” by viewers as it follows detective Tom Nichols (Benicio Del Toro) on his quest to solve the murder of real estate agent Summer (Matilda Lutz).

The latest nothing better to do with my time movie…was entirely predictable, right down to the final ten minutes. I remember the old days when there was one killer and the cops found him or her and shot them until they were dead. Long live nuance.

Justin T does not save this movie at all, and I think he did his scenes in a day. His creepy little I lurve my mommy a little too much way weren’t even ott enough to make it interesting.

Cops with one case to solve. Just the one through the whole film. have they never seen The First 48 Hours? And the case is solved halfway through by some guy who’s done all the detective work for them. taf?

I’m glad I was doing other shit while it was on. I give it one booooo. :ghost:

Adult oriented, but immature writing script, hey poop is funny, masterbation is funny, F words

Mr. Dressup

6/10, don’t know the original show but good movie.

Even Dwarfs Started Small

By Werner Herzog one of the greatest directors of all time. Another must see for cinephiles…As one reviewer said, “great and terrible.” Beautifully shot.
