What movies are you watching in 2020?

Without the context of all the hype, what would give it on a scale of 1-10? I haven’t seen it yet.

8.5-9.0
I watched it when it came out. Pretty good movie imo. It shouldn’t have been the first non-English movie to win the Oscars but still a pretty good movie.

Good question, I liked the movie but don’t think it is Oscar worthy. 7.5/10 perhaps.

I still can’t find HD links to Little Women and 1917 on streaming sites.

Just saw ‘Knives Out.’ Really entertaining, lots of character, clever murder mystery. Not sure how much lasting impact it leaves though, but it’s a fun watch. 8.5/10

Saw ‘Ma’ last week too. I’m mixed about this one. Octavia Spencer is great in it. It’s just a shame her performance is stuck in a mediocre B-list thriller with a basic revenge plot at its core. It’s not bad, but it’s very plot-driven. The kids don’t act rationally and keep making stupid choices for the sake of the plot moving forward (like going back to the crazy woman’s house for a party even though she pulled a gun on them last time). It was watchable, but can’t really recommend it unless you’re a huge Octavia Spencer fan. 6.5/10

I’ve been wanting to see that movie.

Saw “Judy” last night. Man…that was sad.

Muchas gracias!

Just watched ‘Uncut Gems.’ Took about 10 minutes to get into it, but then it’s just great from beginning to end. Sandler’s best performance of his career by far. A very claustrophobic film, each scene packed with so much going on that it’s almost sensory overload, but in a good way as it gets you into the mindset of the character and what they’re going through. It’s about a piece of crap gambling addict that you start off hating, but empathize with by the end. I won’t spoil it beyond that. Should’ve at least gotten a Best Picture nomination, and Sandler (who I normally can’t stand) should’ve at least gotten a Best Actor nod. Very good, highly recommended. 9 to 9.5/10. On Netflix.

Check out Good Boys, also from this year. Like Booksmart but with sixth graders.

That movie was made for alcohol. Have about three big beers and it’s a fun ride. Sober? Don’t bother.

I just find endless action scenes so dull to sit through nowadays. Which is a complete 180 on how I felt as a kid. Car chase, CGI explosion, gun fire, rinse, repeat…

It’s a great movie that’s really hard to watch. I had to turn it off halfway through, go outside for a while, and then start it up again.

I’m going to have to come out of left field and say I watched The Tenant (1976) and Farmer’s Daughters (1976) this morning. The Tenant is a Roman Polanski movie (I know, I know…) about a guy at the mercy of his neighbors. It’s super slow, but it does get delightfully weird toward the end. Farmer’s Daughters? Porn. I DL’d it without knowing. Not that I turned it off. You know, research purposes and all…

Well, with a name like that, no surprise.

A 44 year old porn… I can’t get into really old porn, because my ADD mind just keeps imagining how they’re all old grannies or dead now.

Angel lust?

I personally did not like it. Gave up half way. It just wasn’t a movie for me. I don’t think it’s bad, I just did not enjoy it. It also took me a while to try to not see it as a comedy.
