Unlikely. As we’ve already seen, Lalo can still be just as effective in prison as he is outside. He’s gonna sit on his hands in prison and let the Salamanca twins relax in Cancun as Gus is parading around ABQ running his dominion? I don’t think so. ![]()
That was just a lockup. If he’s doing hard time, it could be different. Could be in Mexico too. Unlikely, yes. But what’s likely? Dead doesn’t make sense because of what Saul said in his first episode. Though Gus did tell Hector that he had no family left. So not dead doesn’t make sense either. No good answers!
Saul also isn’t as deeply rooted in the cartel scene as Mike. Just cause he’d hear that Lalo survived this particular hit, doesn’t mean he’d hear about the next one/whatever actually happens to Lalo. If Lalo gets back across the border and dies of non-natural causes, the Cartel will know it’s Gus (he said it as much, which was why they needed to bail him out of prison and send him down south). Mike knows this. Most likely, Lalo gets terminated in one of the three ways above, and if it were the first two, Mike would not have been as generous with sharing that information with Slippin’ Jimmy. Because here’s the thing— if Gus got rid of Lalo in such a public way that everyone tangentially connected to the drug trade knew, Tuco would not have sat around dealing drugs and doing nothing, and the twins for sure would not have just hung back chilling out in Mexico.
Could be! “Saul doesn’t know” explains things. Still sounds unlikely though. We’re going to get to the end of all this with Saul Goodman in full form in BB without him knowing?
Why was Saul Goodman so eager to become Heisenberg’s Tom Hagen? He had a taste with Lalo as a Friend of the Cartel and even got the duffle bag to show for it. But as we know, that didn’t work out. By all indications he didn’t know any details at all about the Chicken man (again, “knows a guy who knows a guy who knows another guy”) or how critical Mike’s role in his organization was.
Honestly, the biggest question mark is Ms. Wexler. Her, more than Lalo, Nacho, or both combined, are going to be the biggest propellant into him breaking bad into full Saul Goodman. I’m very concerned for her.
I agree. Before Lalo headed out of his villa with a look of vengeance on his face, he looked over at the fire pit where the two glasses and the bottle were, but no Nacho. He’s going to kill Nacho during season six, probably episode 1!
If it were exile though, it’d be interesting to see Lalo (or Nacho) potentially bump into Cinnabon Gene. Maybe that’s why he was so paranoid (authorities+old enemies). Wouldn’t that make a crazy last couple of episodes.
I’m trying really hard not to read any of this
He said that to Walt, but that doesn’t mean it’s all he knows either. Much later he still fears Mike, so they’re not going to be best friends now, true. He just has a certain confidence at the outset of BB that suggests to me he knows he’s ok… And that Kim is ok too. I don’t think he’d be getting past that at all from what we’ve seen.
They’ve definitely made it seem like that’s going to be some part of the story.
Lalo Salamanca is still alive and a threat to Saul Goodman (Slippin’ Jimmy) in Breaking Bad although he is never seen.
Check out this clip from Breaking Bad, Season 2, Episode 8.
Full recap of Season 2, Episode 8
When Saul Goodman starts representing Walt and Jesse
But check this out, Gus tells Hector all his relatives are dead.
So, this scene has to be after season 2, episode 8. Or else, the writers fucked up! LOL
The thing is they had no idea this story line would even exist when they did it. Now they have to make it fit
That’s an interesting thought though. That was S04, it’s also possible Lalo could have died in the interim.
Yeah, as far as Saul is concerned, at that point in time.
He also never once showed up to derail SG’s rise as Heisenberg’s consigliere during the years that he was active.
And the Gus-Hector thing.
Which still only leaves the 3 possibilities listed above.
Breaking Bad was Walt’s story. It’s told from Walt’s POV. If we know anything, we know Saul Goodman can slip into characters and put on a show.
I liked the first one and the little guy but 2 and 3 have gotten a bit new age for me. Not sure if I’ll keep going
New season of After Life!
Thank God someone finally changed the topic from ‘Breaking Bad’/ ‘Better Call Saul’… two great shows I’m tired of hearing about. ![]()
I watched the first season of ‘After Life’ after losing my favorite uncle last year. It resonated a bit (even though losing an uncle is nothing like losing a spouse). Ricky is a pretty good actor for a comic, and among the drama there’s some laugh out loud humor (like Ricky telling the school kid that even if he was a pedo he wouldn’t fancy a “tubby, ginger c*nt” like him). It’s also a breezy watch at only 6 half-an-hour episodes a season, so it’s easy to knock out in a weekend. I’ll definitely check out the second season… hope it’s as good as the first one.
Started binging After Life ep. 2 last night. Jesus that therapist and his mates are horrible. I think Gervais has done a bang up job with this as a study of grief.
I’ve been watching all morning. Fragile, broken and brittle people on the brink of collapse and catastrophe.
Makes you scream with laughter and weep like a baby at the same time.
A rare little masterpiece.
Why that didn’t become a thread…![]()
