American Gods, didn’t someone recommend that recently?
Watched the first episode of season one, that’s good. Really interesting storyline good directing and visuals. I still don’t know what’s going on and where it’s going or if the stories connect.
As someone who lived in France for three years and whose family still lives there, I thought it was sooooo full of boring clichés.
However, Season 1 was worth watching for just one line…when Emily said the Paris Metro smells like Pussy Body Odor or (PBO) on a Sunday because French men refuse to shower after sex. Laughed my ass off
I’ve heard the Madrid metro smells like feces on a Sunday.
If a show has good reviews for its’ first season and then bad reviews for its second season (ex: Heroes, The Handmaid’s Tale, Westworld, etc.) I almost never check it out… because why get invested in something that eventually turns into shit?
Yeah, I often try to avoid “mid-tier shows” until later seasons for exactly this reason, although if it’s something that gets lots of attention - or is right up my alley - I’ll watch anyway.
More specifically for American Gods: Gillian Anderson was a significant part of Season 1, and left due to some sort of behind-the-scenes chaos I no longer remember. And she was one of the main reasons I watched in the first place. #1, loved the novel; #2, Gillian Anderson; #3, Ian McShane as Mr. Wednesday / Odin, with spoiler tags for his really really obvious true identity.
The Great: About Catherine the Great. Rather smutty but any show where the Prince sharts, cums, and pukes AT THE SAME TIME while partaking in intercourse (S1 E5 13:30 and admits it at 21:15) with the court ladies is colorful to say the least.
A very British Scandal: BBC drama about the Dirty Duchess of Argyll…kind of boring…was expecting more lewdness.
I read the book some years ago, don’t remember being very impressed and I’m sure I gave it away instead of saving for another read (a sure sign that it was an underwhelming read)
I’m not sure could keep up in a book with all the different storylines across time. I expect would lose track if I put the book down for even a few days.
Damn this show is creative, screen adaptation is amazing and I haven’t even read the book and I can’t imagine the book being able to inspire the creative images that the TV show produces.
