Well, the DPP is a poor man’s KMT. All politics in Taiwan is brown feces. Good Chinese or Taiwanese don’t enter politics.

If you enter politics through ideology you’re probably foolish. Most enter due to the financial incentive, during and after the political career.

Studying in the US is nothing. Even more of them started businesses in China and moved their whole families there permanently. As a whole, they’re definitely more pro-China than pro-US.

A brief review:

Many Kuomintang people have invested in a future abroad. They are ridiculed on Taiwan as “toothbrush Chinese” because all they need pack before leaving is a toothbrush. The joyous celebration of Taiwan’s citizenry on the removal of that mainlander security force would rival Iranians’ glee on the Shah’s departure. No decent American or Taiwanese interest is served by siding with the discredited Kuomintang security force and ignoring the new prospects for peace, prosperity and democracy.

Kuomintang leader Lien Chan refused to concede defeat after the final results showed Chen the winner by a margin of less than 30,000 votes.
