Starlux Airlines recently announced daily nonstop flights to Hokkaido and Okinawa starting October 28. Almost certainly they know something is up . . .

I think they will end it when Japan announces to open up.

Maybe there is a secret negotiation happening

Which, based on Japanese news, might be soon.

An English-language report, with a few more details, from Focus Taiwan:

Too bad, my flight back is on 9/30, I was holding out to see if quarantines would end before then. On another note, any recommendations for affordable places to stay for 3 nights?
Also curious, my flight arrives on 9/30, so my day 1 would be 10/1, and then able to go home on the 3rd, is that how it works? Thanks.

I take it you don’t live alone?

Unfortunately I don’t. I have my own washroom, but that doesn’t seem to count right now.

It’s not still necessary to stay in a quarantine hotel if you don’t have your own private accommodations, is it? Can book an airbnb or something?

Are they family or roommates? If they’re family, maybe they can stay at a relative’s?

30/9 is Day 0
3/10 at 23.59 you can leave.

No, new roommates that just moved to Taiwan a couple weeks ago, I couldn’t kick them out. Haven’t even met them yet haha.

I tried!

As @marco has indicated, if you are in a quarantine hotel (as it sounds like you will be), you’ll need to book four nights for this to work, as day of arrival counts as Day 0.

Quarantine Expected to end on 10/10 - CECC Spokesperson

Edit: Extra wording may indicate they may backtrack as they do their typical mulling.

You mean it becomes 0 + 7 self isolation - presumably with the same rules regarding others in the house? If you can’t fit the rules its presumably 7 nights in the Extortion Hotel.

That is certainly the pedantic answer.

But minus restaurants… I guess I have an excuse to go shmorgasboard at the night market vendors.

It’s not self isolation. It’s self health management. Which basically has few rules.
