I’m thinking of doing a fair amount of traveling next month and the murmurs about bird flu have me wondering if getting the flu shot might be a good layer of protection, just in case (not that a flu shot is going to protect me against the bird flu…). I remember, however, there being shortages of flu shots in taiwan over the past few years, with the government limiting them to elementary children and old people (and then trying to inject them into everyone everywhere at the end of the season, due to oversupply).
What’s the status this year? Can I roll up to any clinic and get a flu shot? If so, for how much?
You can pay for the shots anytime apart from the first month when they’re busy with the vulnerable.
Yes, anywhere with stock you can get a shot at no cost to yourself if you’re a resident, probably need to show an NHI card and you may have to pay a registration fee if you haven’t been to that clinic before, best ask.
Just call a hospital or a health center near you. They will let you know if they still have some available and what time you should come.
Me and my wife got it today at the smaller hospital in Nantou City. It is free of charge for all ages since yesterday. Not too many people, since elderly could get it free of charge for much longer.
