If Taiwan is so worried about pork from America… Why are they allowing “impossible meat” on the shelfs?

Because is has anything to do with pork, is more kmt vs dpp. Imagine if we start testing the fruits and vegetables from the market, the farm soil, etc

Yeah they would have to restructure the food supply completely. One rule for imports, another for local produce which seems to be a bit of a free for all.

Frog is good eating. And plentiful.

simple answer: different market. vegetarians arent directly competing with pork farmers.

the entire situation is a classic example of corruption. it is infuriating to even think of. we lost international military support because these low level c*nts were so selfish.

They should all be in jail. not just continually released with fines. traitors. all of them.

The issue clearly is with the US soy industry, and Taiwan imports plenty of soy from the US. People are ingesting way more glyphosate from soy milk and tofu than “impossible meat”.

Why do we like putting stuff on burgers? Not everything works as sandwich or hamburgers. Like compare fish burger or sandwich with how Chinese does fish…

And impossible meat exists because somehow were told that being vegan is better for the environment, but meat is tasty. They’re for weak minded vegan wannabe who still wants meat.

If you want vegan or vegetarian then look into Indian food.

Price. Most frog meat produced here is exported to Japan. It’s available here though, just not in burgers. BBQ is far better.

Taiwan tests crop imports for glyphosates and rejects them if they hit a threshold, total ban from memory. There was a big batch of oats a few years back which got rejected. Are you suggesting we are letting in American soy beans with significant glyphosate residues? That contradicts everything I’ve read in the press here. Not saying you are wrong or right, as I’ve seen plenty of inconsistent approaches to this sort of thing before here. One thing though we do import a lot of soy from Canada and Australia too.

Problem is where do you draw the line? If you make testing too strict, food price gets too high, and starving is worse to your health than some level of roundup in it.

And do you not think taiwanese farmers don’t use roundup? They’re just called something else.

Why are they allowing GM soy at all?
