Remember Australia has a small population the size of Taiwan 26 million. So if 60 % of 26 million travel abroad that’s around 16 million people.
How many Americans have traveled abroad? 67 million.

Australia doesn’t have a insular society like the US. I remember once being asked in Colorado if I drove up from Australia.
Australian youth take full advatange of working holiday arrangements. Australian’s have longer statutory leave entitliments, which allows them to the travel abroad more frequently.
I think this part gets glossed over too much.
In Australia we vote for the political party. Not a president/prime minister. Also our votes are not wasted as even voting for a minor party will give that minor party some influence over government decisions to support the things they (and the voter) stand for.
For example the Australian Labor party never generally (as of late) get enough votes to outright declare victory… so they will need to compromise with another part (mostly the Greens party.)
Same goes with the Australian liberal party where they will join forces with some more conservative parties.
Mmm we vote for our member of parliament, and provide preference voting or block preference in senate. Not necessarily by party.

I travelled abroad and worked. Realised how much it sucked and came back to Australia to earn a lot more money with a lot more free time doing something I like more and am a lot better at.

Yes Australians are probably more worldly (in fact many people are more worldly than Americans) but it’s not an intelligence thing: it’s because Americans don’t need to be worldly. Somehow the world keeps coming to us (like in Randoms…random example.) 
Here’s another country the doesnt have to be worldly: Thailand. Do you know what the word for foreigner is in Thai? It’s “Frenchman.” As far as they’re concerned foreigners from the West could all be French.

Because Thais don’t need to know the world - foreigners keep coming to Thailand.
We aren’t even talking about the population size. If we looked at all Americans in California we’d say that the Americans are well traveled. They have more people in Cali than Australia by the way.
