Haha,first of all, it’s just simply the matter of culture that Taiwanese in general are much less agressive in showing their affection to others. Sometimes they might show their affection to you and you may not even be aware, sicne it’s quite subtle. For a ordinary case, if there’s a guy (Taiwanese) that you know that meets you often, maybe every or each two days, and hangs out with you, you may believe it’s all strictly platonic, while for im to be spending so much time with you doing nothing liek dating, is actually already a sort of a thing between you.
Anyways, foreign girs get little or een almost none flirt from Taiwanese in general. Flirt is rather an alien concept to people in this culture, in the way we westerners think of it.
Second thing, your height. I believe that everywhere in the world guys feel more or less intimidated by girls closly as or taller then themselves. Again, a big generalisation.
Symmary goes like this:

Misheque is quite right about this. I’ve engineered the hooking up of a french friend with my taiwanese male buddy and he was shy as hell even though I had coached him for a while. She didn’t care and just went for it, which was made easy by the fact that he is funny and good looking. But I do remember, one hot evening where i saw them kissing all night at a party, that I would be telling him to bring her back home (they hadn’t slept together) and he just wouldn’t being too respectful for that.
As for tall, who cares? I’m 186 and have found memories of that italian ex who was 182. Being able to kiss her without bending my neck completely down was real nice and walking next to her long and slender forms was really making me feel like I was bringing around a superb piece of humanity.

I’m a Taiwanese guy, I grew up in NYC so I’m more Westernized than the local folks. From my understanding of local guys and Asian guys in general, they do prefer smaller girls. 162cm 43kg is kind of the ideal amongst many of my Taiwanese friends. Some of mine more conservative guys here, just won’t even consider having relationship with Western women. And like conservative guys all over the world, casual sex is evil, so they don’t even bother.
However, there are still exceptions. Many ABC guys, or more Westernized guys are open to befriending, flirting, dating, and having relationships with Western women. You can meet them in certain bars, night clubs or social venues. Some got games, and some don’t. We are still local.
The overall situation is changing. It’s getting better and better though…
Oh yeah, couple of my close friends and I are above 185cm though. And we like taller girls. So, height isn’t a problem. There are plenty of <180cm here and many love taller women.
Still i like driving small cars myself.

Yeah small cars are kinda rough ridin, even jarring , but you can take em to the edge s’long as you hang on tight, and you really feel like you are in control. The big ones…you can be cruisin the boulevarde, wavin to everybody and not feel like you gonna fall out, but you is along for the ride sonny.
