In this day and age, it seems more useful to ask why some Taiwanese identify as Chinese, not the other way around. The times have changed, drastically. At least as far as pollitically/nationality, not genetics so much.
Unfortunately education here has been, and still seems to be, propaganda based depending on who won the election. improving I guess, but still seems pretty.
I worked in a luxury beach hotel in Florida when I was in college.
Saw guests from all over the world (I was bellman).
When a Japanese person checked out it was like they had re-cleaned the room. Absolutely spotless. Bed made, everything back in its place. It was unbelievable. I swear the rooms were cleaner when they checked out than when the checked in! lol!
The Japanese-language Nikkei reported on Monday (Aug. 17) that Mitsubishi Chemicalâs new facility in Hsinchu is going into production in 2021, and it will be manufacturing high-performance specialty chemical solutions needed for removing contamination during wafer processing.
Iâve lived part of the year here in Japan since 2009. Itâs the only place Iâve ever lived where I fit in. The attention to detail, the passion for quality, the common courtesy . . . . I think I must have been Japanese in a past life.
The only thing Iâll never get used to is the almost universal inability of Japanese people to soeak directly anout anything even slightly controversial. It makes things a lot more difficult than they need to be.
I really do admire and like Japan. And always love talking with the people.
So, it really boggles my mind to think these are the same people that attacked Peral Harbor and thought they could beat the USA in a war. Unbelievable really. Quite possibly the biggest mistake any country has made militarily in history.
We all make mistakes. But, wow, did they really think attacking Pearl Harbor was a good idea?
Korea is geographically closer to the heart of Japan. If it fell to the West, it would endanger Japan more than the same happening to Taiwan. Hence it needed greater control.
Korea had a national movement, making it more difficult to govern. Taiwan did not. The Qing didnât pay much attention to Taiwan, hence it was a less-settled island before Japanese rule.
Japan gave everybody in Taiwan two years to leave. Hence the people least tolerant of Japanese rule were gone. Where are Koreans going to go? https://core.ac.uk/download/pdf/37768121.pdf
