In my experience, Americans are the least likely to call themselves expats when overseas. The word doesn’t even exist in America. You’re either an immigrant or not. Guess OP is an exception, thinks he’s rich with just a gold card (it’s literally less than median American salary).
It’s usually commonwealth countries with the expat superiority complex.
