World's coolest streets - Yongkang Street? ‘Time Out Guide’

Some of the food items that get popular here are hard to understand  But, one sees few Westerners on line there after all

By the way, anyone know where the sausage thing cart that used to be outside Guanghua Market wound up? I wouldn’t line up for that either, just curious. It’s nicer there now with the new building.

So they sell a Vietnamese style of beef noodles? Or am I wrong once more?

They have various Vietnamese style noodles, I assume rather localized but I like them. I generally get the curry noodles, some spring rolls and stuff. It’s been there as long as I have been here. They have a couple more branches around Taipei too.

According to Google Maps, it looks like the MRT Orange Line goes to about 280 meters from that place.

Sounds about right!

I prefer Dihua Street over Yongkang Street.

Agreed. With all the new bars, tea and coffee houses, restaurants and specialty shops, it isn’t just dried mushrooms and scallops anymore.

Maybe they’re saving that for next year’s list.

Definitely much cooler.

Dihua Street is where all the old fuddy duddies go isn’t it? I suppose it still can be cool, not questioning you.

Well that would explain why I think it’s cool

Since the Green Line extension to Beimen Station, the folks hanging out there have become more mixed than that old stereotype. :slightly_smiling_face:

I was back today for the first time in a while, it’s really lost its former character. I won’t likely go back and wouldn’t recommend it. Not sure about other branches

I remember remembering when I read your previous comment that my Vietnamese ex-girlfriend didn’t like it the one time we went there a couple of years back.

She did get unreasonably annoyed by a lot of Vietnamese-food-related things though, including Liquid Bread Company spelling “banh mi” wrong and restaurants using the wrong type of noodles (:man_shrugging:).
