Would you take the Covid vaccine?

Only because we are vaccinated when young. Measles was often a deadly disease in the past.

> Severe complications in children and adults

Some people may suffer from severe complications, such as pneumonia (infection of the lungs) and encephalitis (swelling of the brain). They may need to be hospitalized and could die. About 1 in 5 unvaccinated people in the U.S. who get measles hospitalized.

Just in case you need additional moralizing. Also, very safe !!!

“We know that God lets everybody into Heaven because He loves us all and He doesn’t really care what kind of mischief we get ourselves into in this life, but we must be wary of the greatest earthly sin of all: not getting the COVID-19 vaccine. God has informed me that He will not let you into Heaven unless you have received BOTH DOSES of this very safe vaccine.”

I know. And your point is?

Do you understand what RNA is and how it’s delivered in vaccines? The underlying mechanism is essentially identical to that used by viruses to hijack a cell’s metabolic machinery. In principle it sounds a great idea, since the RNA codes only for a specific antigen (as opposed to an entire virus). But all new technologies sound great in theory. Then people find out that they do things that nobody ever even guessed at, or that they don’t work quite as people thought they would, because the real world is complicated and messy. This is true even when (as in this case) the technology has been reasonably well characterized in the lab. Once things are out in the wild, observations that were previously dismissed as “noise” tend to show up as data points.

Sure, it may all work as planned. Or it may not. Since the pharma companies - with muscle provided by world governments - intend to impose their product on the entire world population, they’d better be damn sure about this one. My gut feeling (as per my bet with @Brianjones) is that they will drag their feet for many months yet, because the people who run the show (or at least those of them who still have a grain of common sense) will want to do more comprehensive tests.

It looks like they are going to start vaccinating with the RNA vaccines prior to Xmas.

It’s somewhat of a large scale controlled experiment but there isn’t any evidence to date from the three trials that would make me worried.

Personally if given the choice I will take the RNA vaccines due to the higher efficacy numbers. I don’t want to take a vaccine and it not protect me.

Meaning syringes and needles are in shortage ?

More like extremely cold cold chains need to be maintained.

This was reported months ago.
Anyway, it puts a lot of confidence into the vaccine:

Here’s some vaccine related nonsense.

“ “There’s a difference of opinion amongst Islamic scholars as to whether you take something like pork gelatin and make it undergo a rigorous chemical transformation," Waqar said. “Is that still considered to be religiously impure for you to take?””

Bane of human life - religions!! Seriously if those don’t want the vaccine due to such ridiculous constraints why don’t they invent their own? I don’t see anyone stopping them from investing in R&D …

Normally nature doesn’t publish such rubbish.

And what if you were a vegan?

Well your problem. Invent it yourself if you’re offended. Simple.

Comment from that article.
It seems they didn’t actually deteMine if they are currently carrying an active infection.

I do not comprehend how the authors could expect that patients with both negative cell culture and IgM would infect anyone. They didn’t have an infection to transmit at all! They didn’t have active viruses. Let’s not forget that the PCR test detects virus’ ARN fragments, but do not differentiate whether the virus is living or dead. Therefore, they weren’t asymptomatic infected individuals, they just happened to have positive PCRs. 63% of those who had positive PCRs also had a positive IgG, which indicates that they had had the virus at some point in the past, probably during the last 3 months. Hence, it was to be expected they would have unviable viral remains.

Still it’s something I’m interested to read more up on.

Well, they’re way smarter, anyway.

I don’t get it. I’m devious?

Is there any word on Covid vaccine? I tried asking at VGH and they said they don’t know anything.

Wouldn’t Taiwan prioritize covid vaccines to prevent community spread?

I wish I could, but I don’t believe in vaccines in many countries. Not enough testing has been done to take it to people

Yeah. It’s better to get the virus rather than take the risk. That way we can spread it to vulnerable people, who may die from it, or at least suffer serious side-effects from it for years thereafter. Why risk our own lives if (supposedly) enough testing hasn’t been done?

Has anyone taken the vaccine?

I have. I’m in NY. Dunno if you meant local.

Just in general.

Did you get any side effects?

My professor had to reschedule a meeting with me tomorrow morning because he says he doesn’t feel good after taking it. He didn’t give any details besides that and I didn’t want to be rude and ask.
