Youtubers in Taiwan

Why are all those really popular Youtubers so trashy?

I choose “Don’t Recommend this Channel” most of the time when a video like that pops up on my suggestion page.

Changes may be coming.

Guy

How about sorting out their diabolical paypal situation?

My wife made my watch this video from Ku’s Dream:

Not heard of him before, but he seemed very successful - he’s getting 1m views on most recent videos.

He’s also famous enough to have his own brand of taro bread in 7-11.

Why would she make you watch his video though? I mean what’s must watch about any of them?

Internet celebrities are all assholes!

Don’t know him but his videos are full-blown team production level.

Probably not just him one guy sitting in his bedroom late at night editing.

He hired like three Taiwanese girls who do the filming and most of the leg work.

Its the norm now. I know someone who even hires someone to do their schedule for them. They just shit content out these days so it makes sense why they wouldn’t do it by themselves.

I wonder if the poor quality of Taiwans youtube is a reflection of of the TV show quality. Its kind of a similar vibe imo.

Like the TV shows where they walk across wobbly platforms and try not to fall off and the chat shows where they jump from person to person at fifty miles an hour with sound effects. Its like its designed for viewing by attention deficient cats.

I’ve edited the above post to add the video my wife made me watch. It’s about “the worst landmarks in Taiwan”, which she found hilarious as we’ve visited them all.

The ku’s dream guy seems nice enough but he’s a bit OTT for my liking.

Why does this have to be the majority? Recently decided to try to continue improving my Mandarin by taking in more content. Figured YouTube would be an easy way to mindlessly consume videos…but 99% of what was recommended to me was what you just described. There’s some okay videos but most of it is garbage with no sustance. I can not understand the appeal of these videos.

100%. I went down the same route and came to the same conclusion. The majority of it is unwatchable. Even Mainland content is preferrable.

Ok not a bad concept I’ll give him that. Taiwan does have a lot of tourist sites which barely pass as such.

When an endless stream of journey to the west and long march dramas in dodgy costumes has you beat that is definitely a sign

Not that I know what I am talking about, but anyway, watching the Chinese dubbed version of favorite English movies: I have had some minor successes with that.

I find movies / dramas / cartoons to be more helpful than TW youtubers. They speak in that casual slurred way, which for me is like pro level.

I’d say Davie504 is the most famous waiguoren youtuber in Taiwan. He is probably the most famous youtuber in Taiwan period.

His content’s main ingredient isn’t saying Taiwan this Taiwan that very quickly in a characteristically Taiwanese accent for a Taiwanese audience though?

Did not know him. Looking at the videos it is him playing bass guitar. Some of his videos get a lot of views, but it is not something I would watch.
