Zero Day - Taiwan TV series depicting China invasion

That version of the video was taken down for some reason but another is now up.
So what is the purpose of this upcoming series and why is it partially funded by the government??

You ever notice how Hollywood movies tend to portray certain governments as good or bad or even very specific agencies.

Watch the movie Zero Dark Thirty, the movie desensitizes and justifies torture interrogation at the very beginning. It was funded by the CIA.

Ok, I’ll try to check it out.
But what do you think would be the intention of support for this series?
Maybe to rally people against the possibility of the pro unification people?
I’m just surprised by it considering how tense things are steadily becoming.

I wonder if any major streaming platforms would have the balls to stream this.

That exact question is addressed directly in this article on the series in the Guardian. Have a look.

Now CNN also has a story on it. It’s surprisingly detailed.

Probably to galvanize the population into increasing military funding

Isn’t it meant to be a 9 part tv series?

Thanks for the articles. Seems to be getting some serious attention.

I watched the 17 min trailer before sleeping last night. Not wise.
My dreams all night long were about an invasion and trying to get my family to safety. The dreams were unusually very lucid.

BTW…I meant to say “…against pro unification people…”
Yeah, maybe one of their purposes as you suggest. Or could they even be beginning to think the new 1 year compulsory service won’t be enough? Prepping people to accept 2 years?

Propaganda

  1. This is a real threat
  2. Probably can’t hold them off, at the least it will be a difficult fight
  3. An Israel or Ukraine level of commitment might be the difference between being overrun in 48 hours, and giving the US time (and justification) to save the day

Business as usual isn’t going to cut it. Motivating people to join and support the military more probably won’t happen without solving military problems like ammo shortages for target practice and otherwise making conscription worthwhile

As well has a thorough shake down to sift out those that would defect at the drop of a pin. Ive heard it runs deep.

You mean in the armed forces? I have no personal contacts. But there are fairly regular news stories about current and former officers getting caught, and it seems unlikely they all get caught.

I don’t know how well the military officers are paid, or what the culture is like. If they’re low paid and work in a nepotistic graft factory where they spend their days ticking useless boxes, that would probably be an incentive to take a payday. Maybe they’ll only defect if the US doesn’t ride to the rescue? But if the military is corrupt and useless, seems easy for the US to sit this one out…

Look how often they arrest military spies selling info.

Goes along with my idea they may start hinting at longer then 1 year of conscription.
Just a guess but U.S. military advisors probably recommend it if they want better cooperation if it comes to that.
Maybe now that the election is over with the subject will come up.

Most of what I know about conscription comes from Forumosa, but isn’t it kind of a waste of time even at less than a year? They’re not training to fight, so much as learning to follow (which they already know). More time spent in chores than combat simulation.

Rather than double the length of service, they should put their progressive money where the mouth is and make the other half of the population serve. Doesn’t have to start with dirty, dangerous, or physically demanding roles (which, let’s face it, not all men enjoy or are capable of).

I wonder how the series will portray conscription, and the role of women in defending Taiwan

I have not watched the series trailer, but isn’t one of the key messages—this is based on the reports linked above—the potentially pivotal role of fifth column / turncoat people in Taiwan? In that sense the actual military fighters are not where the real fight occurs, but rather in messaging, information, or more precisely (dis)information intended to get us to give up without a fight.

Makes more sense than doubling mandatory male conscription to two years
