Zero Day - Taiwan TV series depicting China invasion

[!Question]- What is the “Battle Board”?
It is a video series by the Daily Mail (through its YouTube channel Daily Mail World) that offers visually-driven, map‑based breakdowns of key military and geopolitical conflicts. Each short episode focuses on a specific engagement—from historical battles such as Kursk to current events like the war in Ukraine—explaining tactics, troop movements, and strategic implications using overhead-style battle maps .

It is concise (typically 4–5 minutes), visually clear, and provides context and battlefield insight—balancing current affairs with military history.

[!danger] Here are the key conclusions from the video:

1. Invasion Phases and Tactics

China would employ a multi-phase invasion strategy combining amphibious landings, airborne assaults, missile strikes, and cyber disruption. Initial objectives would include securing beachheads, achieving air superiority, and isolating Taiwan both physically and digitally.

2. Rapid Escalation Risk

What might begin as a limited incursion could quickly escalate into a full-scale conflict, drawing in the United States and possibly triggering wider regional or global confrontation.

3. Taiwan’s Response and Challenges

Taiwan would mount a defense through conventional military resistance and asymmetric tactics. However, the video emphasizes that Taiwan’s capacity to delay or resist a full-scale invasion remains uncertain and heavily reliant on external military support.

4. Critical Importance of International Support

Taiwan’s long-term defense hinges on solidarity and rapid aid from allies—especially the U.S. Without external intervention, Taiwan could face overwhelming force from the PLA.

5. Strategic Implications for Global Stability

A Chinese invasion would not only threaten Taiwan’s autonomy, but also destabilize global economics, strategic alliances, and regional security across the Indo-Pacific.

China won’t give up and surrender as long as its mainland remains intact. If its amphibious transports are destroyed and Chinese troops are stranded on Taiwan it will just pause while it re-builds its amphibious transport fleet, re-supplying its stranded troops from the air. There’s no scenario where China surrenders without U.S. boots on the ground in Taiwan and China.

To panic people into leaving? Or maybe making guys patriotic to join the volunteer military for 4 years?

Finally airing this Saturday

After watching the first episode in the Taipei premier last week, Blair Yeh, a 35-year-old engineer, said: ‘Presenting such a situation (of conflict) can lead to more discussion about what we should do if it really turns into reality one day.’

Probably better to start preparing instead of having a discussion about what to do if it happens.

Episode 1 should work as long as your ip location is in Taiwan

Just finished watching the first episode on public TV, and good lord, having Janet in the lead role makes it almost completely unwatchable. Her acting is atrocious, and her foreigner Mandarin makes her totally unbelievable as a native Taiwanese, much less as Taiwanese president. Whoever made that casting decision should be executed by firing squad.

The ridiculousness of her in that role made me completely unable to suspend disbelief and take the show seriously. Not sure if I can continue watching. Rant over…for now.

Totally agree, why on earth would they pick someone like that for a role like this. Also made me laugh when her son, who supposedly grew up in America, spoke English with a Taiwanese accent

Yeah, that whole scene was painful to watch. I like the idea of the show, but the execution is ridiculous.

A signal? Run for the Red white and bloo?

I hear Phoenix is nice. And there will soon be direct flights to Dallas.

We are in the red white and blue. No?

The sky is blue, the sun is white and the ground is red everywhere

I can’t help but think of the PRCs navy rolling around like this (cue Benny Hill music)
